Do men recover faster from rhinoplasty than women?

i've had rhinoplasty 2 weeks ago and i'm about to start heavy lifting on the 3rd week I'm wondering if my swelling goes down faster because men produce more testosterone than woman , and some patient take steroids to reduce the swelling which i myself do not recommend taking, but because men produce more testosterone does the swelling on my nose recover faster?

Thank you for your question.  I wouldn't necessarily say that men or women recover faster than the other.  In general, the thickness of the skin that overlies the nose is a good indicator as to how fast swelling goes away in the nose after surgery.  And yes, as a general rule, male patients' skin can sometimes be thicker than a female's.  This can lead to a prolonged period of swelling.  Again, this is a generality, and depends on the individual patient.  I usually counsel my patients that all swelling has generally subsided by 6 months after rhinoplasty. Swelling is more
dependant on the type of surgery performed and the techniques used and in
particular the thickness of your skin. Some women have more swelling than some
of our male patients. It is usually judged on an individual bases.
