Veins under corners of the eyes- caused by fillers/Botox? What is the best treatment? (photos)

Question

In the past few months, I have had Restylane Silk injected in my year troughs (redone a few times because the doctor thought I could use more each time). And just 2 weeks ago, I had Botox. I started noticing these veins shortly after the filler a couple of months back but they are become more and more prominent. Could the treatments be related to these veins? Any idea what could be causing them, and please advise of the best and safest treatment. Thank you!

veins sometimes dilate from filler injections and can be more easily seen after botox when the muscle isnt moving as much.  if you do not like the veins you can treat this with lasers or sclerotherapy.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Those veins are normal anatomy, that show up with the normal aging process.  Thicker skin has more collagen which is white and opaque and hides these veins for many years, but as we age the skin thins out, and veins become more noticeable.  Sun exposure speeds up the destruction of collagen in the skin and this process.  If they are an issue for you, I would consult with a Board Certified Oculoplastic Surgeon.

There is a specialized technique for the treatment of periorbital veins using a small-spot 1064nm Nd:YAG laser that can successfully treat these vessel.  This treatment should not be done by a laser doctor unfamiliar with the technique or you could suffer severe eye damage or be blinded by the treatment.

I agree, too early for vessels to develop. Based on the picture, it appears to be the Tyndall effect. it happens when a dermal filler like Restylane  is injected too superficially (near the surface of the skin). Reversing the effect of the filler with Hyaluronidase,  an enzyme which accelerates the absorption of hyaluronic acid can help or the use of a pulsed dye laser such as the v-beam. Good luck!

Thank you for your post.Veins don't grow that fast as the neovascularization process takes months. It is possible that the Tyndall effect made them more visible. Nevertheless, consider needle RF ablation of these small veins or pulse dye laser.Dr Karamanoukian
