My pre-surgery due diligence for breast implants has been a true roller coaster. From excitement to nearly giving up due to the risks I was reading about, I finally felt more at peace with Saline over Silicone implants. I'm very grateful to this site and especially to Dr Ram Kalus for helping me discover Ideal Implants, which offers the safety of saline and aesthetic benefits of silicone. Brilliant. Are Ideal Implants really as good as they sound? Thank you for taking the time to weigh in!
Answer: Implants I am not a fan of Ideal implants. They are saline implants, but are more heavy and do ripple like saline implants. I have been in practice for over 35 years and have used all kinds of implants. I prefer smooth round saline and gel implants for the best results and fewest long term risks. Also, I prefer Mentor implants, a company that has stood the test of time and has USA made products. They are one of two who survived all the implant craziness of the '90's and 2000's.

Answer: Very Good Implants Ideal implants are certainly very good implants. They are the most natural feeling and looking saline implants on the market in my opinion. However, they are not without drawbacks. One of the issues with saline implants is the plastic fill port that can fail over time. Due to its double lumen, the ideal implant has not one but two of these ports. Also, they are just as expensive as silicone implants, which is a consideration for many women. Furthermore, they will feel a bit heavier than silicone implants. All of that being said, Ideal Implants are very nice devices that will give many women the exact look that they are trying to achieve. There is truly no such thing as the "perfect" implant that will fit every situation in every women. Each device must be chosen to fit your specific measurements and cosmetic goals. I would make sure that your surgeon is choosing an implant that specifically fits you.

Answer: Implant type Dear Anon453054, the two main types of implants are silicone and saline. The shell of the implants can be either textured (which reduces capsular contracture) or smooth. A textured implant sometimes requires a larger incision. The shape of the implant can be either round or tear drop shaped (gummy bear). Both have their advantages and disadvantages. The different types of implant offer different pros and cons. For instance, the pros of silicone implants are that they look and feel more natural and ripple less. On the other hand, the pros of saline implants are that they do not require as large of an incision as silicone, less expensive, they have less incidence of capsular contracture (scarring around the implant), one can tell immediately if there is a rupture, the size can be slightly adjusted, and they can be used for women less than 22 years of age.
