Dear fizzylizzy,As long as you have no issues with your implants, there is no need to remove them. If you have any concerns, I suggest you to consult your plastic surgeon and discuss your issues with him/her. Your Cox-Uphoff International (CUI) Allergan implants are only available overseas. Allergan has stated that BIOCELL® saline-filled and silicone-filled textured breast implants and tissue expanders will no longer be distributed or sold in any market where they are currently available. Allergan has stressed that surgeons should no longer implant new BIOCELL® TEXTURED breast implants and tissue expanders and unused products should be returned to Allergan. However, the FDA is not recommending removal or replacement of Biocell textured breast implants in asymptomatic patients.
If you are having no issues with your breasts and are happy with the size, no, just keep them and do you yearly follow ups with your medical doctor and mammagrams or ultrasounds as recommended.
As far as I am aware, there has been no recommendation to mandatorily remove cui implants. This all relates to the risk of ALCL from textured implants but this condition remains very rare, maybe 1:3000 - 1:25000. (remember ordinary breast cancer risk is higher than 1:10) If the breasts feel soft and natural and symmetrical, there is no reason to remove these implants. ALCL presents with a fluid swelling around the breast so if you feel that one of your breasts is enlarging then you should rapidly seek an opinion about this either by visiting a plastic surgeon or an NHS breast clinic. You would likely need a scan and a biopsy and possibly removal of implants and surrounding 'capsules' if scans indicated a problem or if there was ongoing uncertainty about diagnosis.best wishes
At this time Allergan has recalled only Biocell textured breast implants and tissue expanders. The FDA is not recommending removal of these implants in patients experiencing no symptoms. If you have concerns I encourage you to contact your plastic surgeon for an appointment. Removal of your implants is a personal decision and you need to be well informed.

The recall of Allergan Biocell textured implants applies to implants that are on the shelf. There is not a recommendation that women who have had these implants placed explant them. If you believe that you have Allergan implants, you can contact the company to see if...
Dear Celebrated2011, the majority of implant removal patients need one week of downtime. Depending on the work environment (heavy lifting, etc) more time off may be necessary. Patients are encouraged to walk immediately after surgery to avoid blood clots in the legs. Daniel Barrett, MD
