I can hear water on my left breast when I make movement. Is this normal?

It is normal to feel and hear fluid around the implants for up to a month. Ice compression will help to reduce this swelling and fluid sensation.

In the short aftermath of breast augmentation the implant can move about in the space created by the surgeon. This can create unusual sensation in noise. When the capsule is established this will cease to occur.

I would recommend that you follow-up with your plastic surgeon regarding this sensation especially given that you had a hematoma postoperatively. It is unusual to have this sensation and an examination is warranted. #PlasticSurgery #BreastAug #Recovery #Healing 

In the early post operative period, patient described these sensations and noises.  Especially if you've had a hematoma that may be resolving.  Also, it happens more with saline implants.With time, they will mostly go away.  Follow up with your surgeon if this continues and bothers you.

Because you had a hematoma on that breast, I would not ignore the noise. It is quite possible that it is simply caused by the implant settling, but the safest course of action would be to schedule an examination with your surgeon to ensure that no further complications have arisen.Traci Temmen, MD

Thank you for your question.  It is normal to hear these types of noises after breast augmentation surgery as it takes a few months for your implants to settle.  If you have saline implants you may hear these types of noises even more so.  Given that you have had a hematoma you may want to check in with your surgeon to make sure everything is okay.Best of luck,Dr. Peter Newen
