Hey Doctors, good morning I’m a 24yo man, I started loosing my hair 5years ago due to hereditary, now I’m planning to do a hair transplant next month in my country, and I was wondering how many grafts I need, hopefully I get the answer here and to be honest I’m thinking about 3500 grafts "entire head", so my question is, what can I expect from 3500 grafts to cover!? P.s: I do not have any disease and I’m not taking any treatment or medicine. Thanks in advance.

Yes you can get hair transplant 3500-4000 grafts will give you good coverage. If the existing hair constinue to fall, in the future you can get 2nd session

the number of grafts a patient will need depends on the thickness of their hair and the extent of their hair loss, which can be determined by the Norwood Scale below.
During a hair transplant, grafts are usually removed from the ‘donor area’ located on the back of the scalp and relocated to a balding area. The back of the scalp makes a good extraction area due to the high volume of hair follicles that congregate within that region that are not affected by the balding process. Specialist surgeons will remove a small amount of tissue that can grow hair and relocate it to the desired area of the head without damaging them.

Yes, 3500 grafts should be enough to provide reasonable density in the areas of loss.  The question I have for you is what will you do to slow the progression of loss of the hair you have today?  Make sure that you speak to your surgeon about a regimen to maintain your hair.  I am VERY cautious about performing hair transplants on patients in their 20's because of the likelihood of loss of the native (not transplanted) hair over time.  Remember that you have a finite supply of donor hair that can be transplanted over the course of your lifetime.

3500 grafts is not enough to provide adequate density and restore the anterior hair line. 3000 needed for the front and 2000 needed for the crown.

From the pictures and your age, I can conclude that you will progress to at least a Norwood Class 6 pattern of balding. You need a plan, not just for now, but for the next few years to find out if you have enough donor hair. If your hair is fine, then I doubt that the hair transplant will solve your problem as the surgery is likely to trigger shock loss

You are 24 years old with an advanced level of hair loss.
It would not be in your best interest to have hair transplantation, regardless of the number of grafts.
This type of hair loss often leads to Norwood class 7 type of hair loss. This would mean that you will loose a lot of transplants over the next 5-10 years.
You need to focus on hair rejuvenation to make your hair stronger and stop of slow down further shedding.This can be done via a combination of different techniques.I have some real nice examples before and after rejuvination posted on realself
