Does a beard hair transplant leave any scarring?

Question

Does an FUE beard hair to scalp transplants leave any weird scarring along the throat, chin or cheeks?? And just so I'm clear, I mean extracting the beard hairs FROM the throat, chin or cheeks ONTO the scalp (not the other way around). Thanks in advance for your help

Hello,
After every operation there can be slight scarring left. That is why, for beard extraction the throat area is good. Throat is the area that shows the less scarring when used beard as donor area. If you need body hair as donor, l suggest throat as donor zone if needed.

Extracting hair from the beard by FUE would leave the same hypopigmentation marks that would be seen if extracting the hair from the scalp

FUE procedures are popular because they don't leave the linear scar of the FUT ("strip") procedure. However, there are small (usually about 1mm) circular scars where the grafts are taken. If the donor units are carefully selected and you have reasonable beard density, you could probably disguise the donor scars as long as you wear a beard. However, they would likely be visible if you were to shave your beard.

Harvesting hair from the face is more prone to scarring due to the nature of the tissue. If the hairs are harvested from under the chin they would not be noticeable. You would need to find an expert that can comfortably harvest body hair.

The Beard as a donor source for hair is reasonable and it rarely leaves scars. These hairs should never be used in the leading edge of the frontal hairline
