How to fix static glabellar frown lines after 70 units of Botox? (Photos)

It's difficult to tell from the pictures... are you furrowing your brow? If so and the botox was done within the last 2 weeks- I'd wait and see what we get at the end of 2 weeks post injection. 

If you still have static vertical lines that bother you then fillers is your go to. This area is notorious for intravascular injections so make sure you go to a specialist with experience.

The injections to glabellar lines need to be performed superficially and carefully to avoid visible filler, or vascular issues. Improvement in this area may be subtle. You may wish to consider browlifting for a more definitive improvement. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  I see your lack of improvement with Botox despite appropriate dosing, and though fillers can safely be used to improve your frown line appearance, I would try a different neuromodulator first to seek improvement.  Though Dysport and Xeomin work similarly to Botox they may be a better treatment option for your dynamic wrinkling.  Once paralysis of your glabellar muscles is obtained then seek out filler use for further improvement.  Hope this helps.

This is a very risky area to inject a filler as there is a risk of stroke or blindness. Thanks for your question and the photos – they are helpful.  As always we recommend that you have a consultation with a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to assure that you have an expert work with you and recommend an appropriate treatment course that will help you.  As noted by others, the use of fillers is the next logical step for you – but this needs to be done by a true expert and not just any injector out there as there are certain potential problems if this is not done correctly.   So find the right injector and this can be taken care of.

You have had a lot of Botox and that treats the movement of the muscles. when the lines are this deep at rest you need to have filler injection. But choose wisely as this area is fraught with difficulty. Make sure you see an experienced dermatologist or plastic surgeon with the equivalent of US board certification

If there is no more movement in the glabella area after all of the Botox injected then I would recommend having a dermal filler injected into this area.  Special care must be used in this area for fillers since this is an expert injector technique.  It is best that the area is "frozen" first with Botox since now the filler will last much longer na have a better result.  Best, Dr. Green

Although neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin) are great for expression lines, deep lines will need a dermal filler to correct the area completely.  I recommend you see a Cosmetic Surgeon with experience in Botox as well as fillers.  A plan can be made for you.  Most often an injection of 1cc of a dermal filler combined with occasional Botox will smooth the area.

Unfortunately, if the lines exist at rest Botox won't help and adding more when you can't activate that muscle is just a waste of money.

This is one of the very riskiest areas to have filler injected. There is a small, but real risk of stroke or blindness in this area. If this type of risk is acceptable to you, then seek out a physician who specializes in aesthetic injectibles and only uses microcannula in the area. Call ahead - many specialists who I know don't think the risk is worth it and no longer inject this area with filler.

Athough the results are less dramatic, PDO threads can be used both in the base of the folds to build collagen and to crosshatch the area and provide support with best results over a series of treatments.
