There is not an ideal BMI. Being ready for the BBL depends upon your overall health, your body habitus, and your goals. In my practice I look for a BMI approximating 30 (for a weight of 170 lbs and height of 5'3", your BMI would be 30.1) to lessen the risks of complications during and after surgery and to enhance the results of the procedures. It is best to be within 10 pounds of your weight goal for three months prior to the BBL. Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
A good candidate has enough fat available for transfer in the procedure. The amount of fat that can be transferred in a BBL depends on how much fat the patient has to harvest and the amount of space there is to move the fat into. It is recommended for the patient to have a BMI of 30 or less. If you are too thin, a Brazilian Butt Lift may not be possible.
Thanks for your question. Patients considering cosmetic surgery such as brazilian butt lift should have a stable weight with a BMI of 30 or less in order to minimize risks and maximize results. The closer you are to your ideal weight the better your results will be. That said, you definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety. Best is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.
Optimal candidates for surgery should have reached a healthy stable weight preferably with a BMI < 30.With regards to your specific question, BMI is calculated based on height and weight. Thus the ideal BMI (i.e. weight) for anyone with a height of 5'3" will be the same (assuming the same sex). This weight would be less than 170 lbs.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).
Thank you for your question. The recommended BMI prior to an elective surgery is less than 30 for health and safety reasons. If your height is 5'3'' your weight should not be over 170lbs to reduce the rate of complications during surgery and optimize your results. Seek a board certified plastic surgeon who performs many of these procedures, has great reviews and photos, and is an expert in this field.
The ideal weight for a bbl is your comfort weight. I treat your body like it is a canvas and so I want your canvas to be stable and not changing. That is why I urge all of my BBL patients to be at their comfort weight. Your comfort weight is the weight that you feel comfortable at, the weight that you don't have to diet or workout excessively to maintain. This will assure a stable canvas. If you are an excellent candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), the optimal BBL outcomes are achieved with: 1) use of VASER liposuction to harvest the fat, 2) a closed looped system such as Puregraft to process the fat, and 3) strategic micro-packet transplant technique. These three processes have demonstrated over 95% fat graft take. This means that your results will be stable as long as you maintain your weight. As an official VASER trainer, I am routinely referred unhappy BBL patients. One of the most common reasons for disgruntled BBL patients is that patients are not able to accurately communicate their desired buttocks goals to their surgeons. A buttocks assessment tool ban be an invaluable tool to communicate to your surgeon the exact buttocks size and shape you are desiring. A Skype or Facetime consultation with a BBL specialist can help you get an accurate recommendation and pricing.
