Is a Panniculectomy safe?

Went in for a tummy tuck and doctor told me a Panniculectomy would be better for me and will give me better result. which slowed me down a lot I do think I could have lost more weight so I started diet and exercising I was doing a lot of cardio but seems like I'm not getting anywhere any more I think I really wanna know is a Panniculectomy safe? Reason I asked this I was in the internet and I was looking at my Facebook and it popped up a lady died from Lipo and my God it just has discouraged me so much but I have went with a c section 3 and I have had the gastric I think I jus need to stop seeking the bad/

Hello,Although all surgery comes with risks, a panniculectomy is a very safe procedure. I would always recommend that my patients be at or near their goal weight before having surgery. Good luck!

Thank you for sharing your question and congratulations on your weight loss.  A panniculectomy is similar to a tummy tuck in that it removes excess skin from the stomach but with a few key differences - it does not seek to remove all of the excess skin, tighten your underlying muscles, or reposition your belly button.  A panniculectomy aims to only remove the apron of skin that can develop with significant weight loss.  As a result the procedure is faster and safer for many patients.  Talk to your plastic surgeon, they can offer you the best advice..  Hope this helps.
