Hello and thank you for posting photos along with your question. It is a little difficult to give you a good idea of what may have happened without knowing more about the surgery. These look to be wounds on your back which I haven't heard or seen it happening from normal liposuction alone. Did you have laser lipo done? Is the garment you are wearing too tight or is it creasing in these areas? It does appear that the central part on the right lower side of the picture is a full thickness loss of skin. This is definitely something you should have a discussion with your plastic surgeon about. Only he/she can really give the best answer and recommendations on the solution because they know exactly what was done and how your post op recovery went. I wish you the best of luck in your continued recovery.Ankur Mehta MD
These appear to be burns from liposuction. This can happen if an energy device is used, as the heat can cause a burn from the inside. You'll need to treat the wounds like a burn and monitor them and see your PS regularly. I hope you saw a board-certified PS...
Thank you for your question. I am sorry for the outcome. Picture suggests full thickness wound. Hard to tell you what exactly happened during the surgery from pictures. Your PS will be able to explain and guide you through the wound care and healing. Please follow closely with your PS.
It is best to get advice from your PS. Only he/she will be able to determine the possible cause. It looks like there have been some full thickness wounds on your back that are healing and your PS will be able to advise on dressings / wound management.
An issue like this needs to be addressed by your surgeon. Hopefully they have already told you what may have caused this and how you should be taking care of this. Any compromise of blood flow or circulation and/or trauma can cause this. Since there are a variety of ways of managing this, it is best to have your surgeon directly involved.
Greetings,I have never seen skin loss on the back after liposuction and a tummy tuck. Was your back liposuctioned?Clearly, these healing areas on your back should be followed and managed by your plastic surgeon to assure the best possible outcome.Best Regards,
I'm pretty sure you meant "stringy stuff in the drain after tummy tuck," not "tummy tuck in the drain." Can't help it; I raised a PhD daughter who is an English teacher! Your question reminded me of the sentence "We went to throw the horses over the fence some hay, and there they were, gone."...
Prior to elective surgery, patients need to optimize their underlying medical conditions. Active infections would postpone surgery. Depending on the exact location of the psoriasis, your dermatologist and plastic surgeon can determine if abdominoplasty is appropriate. Risks and benefits s...
Hi, Thanks so much for your question. Without seeing photos or you in person, it sounds like you may benefit from an abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck. When we age, our skin loses its natural elasticity and our muscles also weaken. When this happens, the skin on our midsections can become looser and...
