What is the efficiency of lip fillers for treating chronic xerostomia associated lip cheilitis?

I have chronic mouth that often gives me extremely chapped and painful lips. They are dry, flakey, and have tons of open cuts! I was told that some lip fillers may help prevent my lips from getting so dehydrated and cracking. Will insurance cover this?

Thank you for your question.  I do not suspect that lip fillers will be of any help in treating xeostomia or cheilitis.  In fact, until you have determined that the reason for your particular medical issues are benign and well controlled I would not have any injections into your lips.

I would not expect that fillers would resolve the issue you are having with “dry lips”. Addiitonally i do not think insurance would cover this. I would have an in person evaluation by a physician to determine the potential cause of your lip condition and have this treated prior to any cosmetic lip injections as these are unlikely to help with cheilitis.Best wishes,

I do not personally think that fillers will help. They help when patients have folds at corners and get yeast and inflammation from wetness. Unlikely that  insurance  will not cover.
