Yes, it is OK to have a lift after previously placed implants. In some ways, it is safer that you are having this procedure long after implants. I recommend an in-office examination as well as a detailed discussion with a surgeon who you are comfortable with. Finally, make sure your surgeon is a Double-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).Best,Dr. DesaiBeverly Hills Institute for Aesthetic Plastic SurgeryHarvard Educated, Beverly Hills & Miami Beach Trained, Double-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
As you mentioned, it can be difficult for a patient to determine if her implant has shifted or dropped, or if she simply has drooping of the breasts, or breast ptosis. You should absolutely see a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery for an evaluation. This could be your original surgeon if you have confidence and a good rapport with him or her, or a new surgeon if not. The surgeon will be able to give you options after examining you and determining your goals. Patients absolutely have breast lifts after they already have implants, and some patients do need revision of the implant pockets to correct problems such as implant slippage/displacement (or both). There are also different types of lifts, with different amounts of scarring, depending on your specific situation. Good luck!
Far more important than the technique is the skill and experience of your plastic surgeon. Choose your surgeon rather than the technique and let them explain why one technique may be better than another. An in office exam would be necessary to determine whether the implants need to be removed or replaced. The breast lift can be performed without changing the implants. For the lift, I typically start with the smallest incision and custom tailor each breast lift to the shortest scar possible. Find a board certified plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of breast lifts each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results you are seeking.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Dear 22Izaah22,yes, you can get breast lift after breast augmentation. However, I would recommend you to get a formal evaluation by your plastic surgeon or another board-certified plastic surgeon. That is the only way you will know for sure what is the problem with your implants.
Of course you can get a lift without implants. In my practice it is certainly more common to use an implant to help with shape , volume and cleavage. I always tell y lift patients that they will actually be a little smaller than before although they may feel that they do not need to wear a bra all the time. However, sometimes without an implant you may not get the result you are looking for with upper pole fullness and a good cleavage line.
Yes, it is possible to undergo a breast lift with the presence of implants. It is important that you consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area in order to get a thorough prognosis and surgical plan. Best of luck.
Yes, it is certainly possible to undergo breast lifting surgery if you already have breast implants in place. My best advice: select your plastic surgeon carefully. Make sure that he/she has significant experience achieving the types of outcomes you will be pleased with. Then, communicate your concerns and goals carefully. Working together you will come up with a good plan to achieve your goals. Best wishes.
can certainly be done but what is really important is making sure that your implants are properly positioned before you start moving your nipple around with a lift. If your implant is solid in its position, then a lift can be done and if not a big lift, could possibly do it in the office.
The short answer to your question is yes, you can certainly have a lift following breast augmentation. The question I would have is what is the condition of your current implants, what kind of implants are they, and when were they placed? If your current implants are in great shape without problems of hardening or position, then all you would need is a lift over those implants. If, however they are older implants you may want to consider replacing them. If they are silicone gel implants and they are old, I would certainly recommend an evaluation with MRI to make sure the implants are indeed in good shape- that is the gold standard for checking silicone implants for leaking and if your implants are leaking, you would be better off with a revision/replacement of those implant at the same time as your lift- knocking off two birds with one stone as they say.The best thing for you to do is review your history and current situation with a Board Certified plastic surgeon so you can make the best decision for an outstanding outcome.Best wishes, Dr. L
Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and...
Hello and thank you for your excellent question. We use the glue in order to seal the incision and prevent any bacteria from getting into the wound. It also lets you shower earlier. If you are allergic, or do not want to use the glue, the option exists to not use the glue at all. Of course, you ...
