Can areas that were treated with fat grafting grow uncontrollably?

Question

I would like to get fat grafting to my cheeks and forehead. I would like to removed the fat from my abdomen. If I I became pregnant later on and gained a significant amount of weight, would my face grow too big? Does the fat you add to another area, act like the fat you take it from?

I do a lot of fat grafting and liposuction and have never had an issue with uncontrolled fat grafting.  You want to find someone who does the most up to date harvesting techinques and uses PRP to prolong the survival of the fat.  Also, someone who can fix the fat grafting if there was a problem and we use a special injection technique to reverse bad fat grafting if needed ( as we see a lot of revision cases in our practice from outside poor technique ). You are correct on both accounts. The fat that you transfer will behave like the fat that it originated from. If you gain weight, your face may get puffy.

Fat Grafting is an ideal filler for the area under the eyes. The fat survives very well and overfilling as some surgeons do, should be avoided. The fat injected can grow if you gain weight. If this happens or you are unhappy with a bad overfill, then this is corrected with special micro-liposuction cannulas.As the inventor of the Viafill Fat Transfer system I am keenly aware of the technique limitations of fat transfer and will mix fat with PRP in areas where the survival of the fat is in questions - the untouched face is not one of those areas.
