Hi there, I am booked in to have a breast augmentation next month. My surgeon has ordered 2 x 205 cc implants and one 230 cc intraoperative sizer. Why have they done this? Is it likely that I will recieve a larger implant (it doesn't seem like they will have any additional implants there - I have only ordered and paid for the 205 ccs).
Answer: Surgeon's routines can be all different I would ask your surgeon about this! I use sizers routinely, and using different implants is common when there is an asymmetry to begin with. That said, you should not have to worry that you will have a different implant placed than you decided on. Patients will often entrust me with that final call, but clarify this important point with your surgeon beforehand!

Answer: Intraoperative sizer Dear Giving728362, breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small. You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals. Answer: Introperative sizer Thank you for your inquiry! There are multiple reasons for different sizes. If the anatomy of your chest is different from the other side. If you have more breast tissue on one side than the other. We would love to sit down with you and discuss your options. Answer: Sizers I use sizers during breast augmentation to ensure the correct implant is used to help get my patients as close to possible to the look they are wanting. I encourage you to speak to your surgeon about the sizer selected. Only she/he can answer why they ordered what they did. I've included a video on sizers that I hope you find helpful.

Answer: Sizers The cost of the implants are the same and you will be getting two. However, you probably have a small difference in breast sizes and your surgeon wants to try sizers to see which looks more even. Or, your surgeon wants to use the sizer to check the pockets before putting the implants in position. Why don't you ask your surgeon this question?
