Dr. Pinell is not only a fantastic and experienced surgeon—she is also a great support system. I found her to be always available and happy to answer my many questions before and after my surgery. The outcome of my surgery is everything I had hoped for and more.
I was planning on having multiple consultations for my breast reduction but after I met with Dr. Pinell I knew I found the surgeon for me. She is patient, extremely skilled, detail oriented and she does phenomenal work. The difference I feel every day is incredible. She literally gave me the breasts of my dreams!
Dr. Pinell performed breast reconstruction surgeries on me after a double mastectomy. She did a fantastic job and is a caring, compassionate, intelligent, skilled, communicative surgeon. Not cocky or arrogant. In office, she explains things in language that is easy to understand, she asks and answers questions, is patient, and responsive. Her team provides great support as well. In the hospital, she is calm and confident. No drama! Her post-surgical help and results were outstanding across the board. She is a true talent. I highly recommend Dr. Pinell without reservation.
I had an abdominalplasty along with a muscle repair with Dr. Pinell. She did an amazing job and went beyond my expectations. As a smaller person I was scared she would not have enough skin to work with but she did and her work came out beautifully. I couldn't have asked for a better surgeon along with her staff. Their bedside manner along with the after care was topnotch and they really care for their patients.
Dr. Pinell was the ONLY surgeon I met with in June 2020 for my breast augmentation and again in July 2021 for my abdominoplasty. At both consultations, she patiently answered each question, addressed every concern, and helped me to set realistic goals/expectations for my post surgical body. She reassured me about the inevitable scarring but also took great care in the placement of my incisions to conceal them as much as possible. I have spent the last two summers in Dr. Pinell’s care and I have been blessed each time. Dr. Pinell is a truly gifted surgeon whose talent can be found not just in her work but also in the team of professionals who support her. Every member of her staff is warm, engaging, and responsive. Continue to do great work. Much success to Dr. Pinell and everyone at DaVinci Plastic Surgery.
I came to DaVinci Plastic Surgery seeking a breast reduction. The pain in my spine and shoulders was so immense I was thinking of going out on disability. I met with Dr. Pinnell, and she showed me a lot of compassion and kindness. She explained every aspect of the surgery, and what to expect with aftercare. I am very satisfied with the results I got. The staff at DaVinci is very kind, very knowledgeable, and always available to discuss any questions or concerns. They gave me wonderful aftercare instructions and were available whenever I had any questions or concerns. I would absolutely recommend DaVinci and Dr. Pinnell to anyone who is seeking cosmetic or reconstructive surgery.
I had an excellent experience with Dr Pinell.-- from the consultation through to my follow up visits. She is kind and approachable and incredibly competent. I felt so well taken care of. I highly recommend Dr. Pinell.
Dr. Pinell is amazing! She is so personable, friendly, and goes the extra mile. I felt comfortable with her doing my tummy tuck. For 12 years, I had a kangaroo pouch, never wore a bikini, and was self-conscious when wearing fitted clothing. My procedure went well, but I did have excess bleeding. I had to get drains re-inserted after they were initially taken out. No fault of Dr. Pinell - not every person’s body will react the same. I am a little over one-year post-op and I absolutely love my tummy. I do have a bit of a “dog ear,” but I’m not ready to get that fixed just yet.
Wow. Where to begin. Dr. Pinell was the last of 4 doctors I consulted with when I was looking for where to do my breast reduction. And immediately there was a clear difference. The other surgeons either talked about money first or pinched me very hard during my consult. Dr. Pinell was the most respectful and kind. She sat with me and listened which was incredibly important. I didn’t have the words or terminology but she still regarded me as a human being with expertise on my own experiences with my breasts. She asked thoughtful questions and got to know me; she explained what they survey would look like and what she was recommending. By the time I walked out of the office I knew I was done searching for a doctor. In my following appointments she kept up with my life changes and took all my questions. The staff were incredibly helpful, explaining my financial options and providing clarity on what the center offered. I dealt with only women the entire time which was also a plus. The day of the surgery was incredibly smooth and her office called or emailed in the following days. I did have some nerve pain and within minutes of emailing her, she had sent my prescription to the pharmacy. (She always responds to emails so quickly). I was reduced from a triple D to about a C/D cup and its amazing. I continue to enjoy the results today. I did not lose any sense of feeling in my nipples and she was able to do the surgery without the dreaded anchor incision. A year later it is the best money I have ever spent and I no longer have back pain or dread going on long runs because of the ensuing pain. I have had no weird healing issues or weird infections. She is incredibly talented and you see that in the way she examines you and explains the procedure. I have recommended her to family and friends considering breast reductions and should I ever need to go under the knife again- even if I no longer live in DC- I would fly back to see her. Everyone in this office from the front desk to the medical assistants to the OR team to the doctors are incredibly friendly. The doctors I saw before her always appeared in a rush or provided scripted answers to my questions. At DaVinci you will feel like you’re their only patient even though they get so many patients and answer the same questions over and over again. For Black women or other women of color, I am Black and was initially told by friends to find a Black surgeon who understands “our skin”. I fully assure you that Dr. Pinell understands. She’s had a range of patients including Black patients and has had successful procedures with them. She treats everyone with respect and dignity and carries herself in the same manner. I am very happy to be a part of this family and you will too!
I am a Breast Cancer survivor and have had a rough time after all the chemo. I have had multiple surgeries, the biggest being a double mastectomy. I chose to go implants because the thought of a DIEP tissue reconstruction scared me. I did the expanders and implants, then my body kept forming encapsulations around the implants and I had to have them replaced a few times. Seeing multiple doctors. Finally after the 3rd replacement I was told I needed to do the DIEP tissue reconstruction. Dr. Pinell and Dr. Davison were the most positive, caring, knowledgeable doctors! Dr. Davison put my mind at ease, answered every question I had, even when I asked them multiple times. He was very patient with me, very kind and had a calming way about him. I consulted with him a few times, finally begging for him to remove my implants, due to COVID-19 my surgery was postponed for a month. He removed them under general anesthetic which scared me! Again, he had a calming way, played music, joked and we had a great time! When it came time for my DIEP surgery, which was on my birthday! I met Dr. Pinell for the 1st time. She was just as easy to talk to, calm, positive, caring and I knew I was in great hands! The 8hr surgery went well, until about 11pm. Then things went a little sideways. Dr. Pinell jumped into action, no himming or hawing. She didn't take any unnecessary precautions and was AMAZING! She came and saw me every day while in the hospital, her calm demeanor was comforting and encouraging. This woman deserves 100 GOLD STARS in my book and every award out there! I am so grateful to have found such an amazing Dr. Thank you, thank you, thank you again Dr. Pinell and Dr. Davison!!!
That is a large implant. Your dimensions are an important starting point to picking an implant, but your overall size goals matter! Implant selection is usually done using sizers or an imaging tool so you have a visual of what to expect. I'm sure your surgeon did some of this with you, but checking in to confirm your implant selection might be a good idea!
Get your colonoscopy first, and then tackle the breast implant revision. The colonoscopy is an important screening, so in my view takes precedence. Also, there can be transient translocation of bacteria into the bloodstream if anything is biopsied, and you would not want that to reach your implant!
I would ask your surgeon about this! I use sizers routinely, and using different implants is common when there is an asymmetry to begin with. That said, you should not have to worry that you will have a different implant placed than you decided on. Patients will often entrust me with that final call, but clarify this important point with your surgeon beforehand!
With the implant being on the smaller side, I wonder if this difference reflects an asymmetry of your natural breasts. If so, it could be improved with a slightly larger/wider implant seated a bit more medially (toward the center). The other scenario could be an underdeveloped pocket toward the center. The fix might involve correcting that and different implants to account for a slight volume asymmetry. Your original surgeon will have the best handle of what is going on. Good luck!
You should look great with breast augmentation alone! I do not believe a lift is needed here. Best of luck!
