When is it safe to go swimming after Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty recovery and exercise of any type do not mix. Submerging yourself underwater and sun exposure - two seemingly undeniable experiences that occur when you are at the beach - are not conducive to recovery. In fact, it
is also important to avoid any activities that cause the heart rate to
accelerate.Increased blood pressure
could result in more swelling and this increases the possibility of developing
a nosebleed. Please follow your surgeon's recovery guidelines as diligently as possible to ensure you receive the best results. Keep in mind that you always have the option of scheduling a follow-up appointment or calling the office to receive advice pertinent to your health profile and your surgery.

I generally recommend waiting 4 weeks for my patients to start swimming.  I recommend sun screen application for 6 months after surgery whenever going outside.   I recommend that you return to see your surgeon, as he/she will have a good idea of what to expect in regards to your specific progress, since they can evaluate you in relation to your preoperative appearance.Best wishes and good luck.

I do not recommend my patients submerging their heads in water until at least 6 weeks post op.  Sun exposure can cause swelling in the early healing stage.  Follow you surgeon's instructions for a nice recovery.
