What is the legal age for silicone breast implants in Australia?

I have been reading into breast augmentation and have come across the fact that silicone implants are only legal for those over twenty-two years of age in America. However, I have not been able to find a definite age requirement for Australia other than the requirement of being eighteen years for saline implants.

There is not an age limit in Australia.  You need to be mentally prepared for surgery and deemed mature enough to consent for surgery.  Your breasts also need to have stopped growing for at least 12 months.

The best way to assess and give

It looks as if there is not age limit in Australia for silicone breast implants. You just need to exhibit enough maturity to understand what the surgery entails and to be able to handle it emotionally. Best, Dr. Nazarian

In Queensland there actually is a legislated age-limit which is 18 .In other states there is no age-limit but common sense has to apply re maturity for a decision re cosmetic surgery and allowing breast growth to complete .CheersTS

HiThere is no legislated age limit for any type of breast implant in Australia.  The reality is that you need to be psychologically prepared for surgery and deemed mature enough to consent for surgery.  Your breasts also need to have stopped growing for at least 12 months.  In reality most patients wait until they are at least 18 but it is not mandatory.Regards Damien
