In my practice, I have found the Ematrix to be outstanding in the treatment of atrophic acne scars on the face and neck. We usually recommend a series of Ematrix treatments for optimal effect. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
Ematrix is a welcome option for all the ethnic skin types for both acne scarring and general resurfacing. It's not a laser so that helps tremendously in avoiding post treatment pigmentation.Ematrix and most lasers are fractional devices - meaning they don't cover the entire surface of the skin in one treatment. This is on purpose and allows for quick recovery and a very low incidence of post treatment infection. You give up faster results but you also don't have to deal with a difficult recovery. Treatments are provided in a series to get the most benefit.
Thank you for your question. We use eMatrix extensively in our acne treatment center, especially for acne scars - it is used for atrophic acne scars, some ice pick scars, rolling and boxed acne scars.Best,Dr Karamanoukian
eMatrix is an option to treat acne scarring for all skin types. Several treatments are typically necessary depending on the severity of the scarring. Other effective treatments include CO2 resurfacing such as the CORE laser. CO2 lasers have greater downtime, require fewer treatments and are limited to patients with lighter skin types.
I thinkEmatrix is an excellent treatment to improve acne scarring. There was recentlya study comparing Ematrix to Fraxel for acne scar improvement and theyconcluded that they both produced the same amount of improvement. Ematrix givesbest results with a series of treatments usually 5 treatments at one monthinterval. I also like to add PRP injections to help with healing time and boostthe amount of collagen stimulation. I find the combination of either Fraxel orEmatrix with PRP give my patients the most improvement. Consult with a BoardCertified Dermatologist to see what treatments are best for your acne scars.
Yes, all forms of acne scars can respond to ematrix, including atrophic, box car, hypertrophic, ice pick, and rolling scars. The earlier the treatment the better the result. We generally like to space eMatrix 4 weeks apart. Also using higher energy levels (in correct skin types) will give better results. This is balanced between down time, scar type and skin type. This works by breaking down old collagen and stimulating new collagen to form.Hope this answers your questionCheersDr Davin S. Lim Dermatologist
eMatrix works well for superficial acne scarring. If a patient has deeper scarring or divets, I prefer to treat them with the Invasix Fractora. In my experience the downtime has been the same, but the results have been far superior, particularly for deeper scars and divets. Note that for either procedure it takes about 6 months to really start seeing the changes in the skin. The timing of the anesthetic cream depends on the particular type of cream that is used. Typical is approximately 20 minutes or longer.
We use a lidocaine tetracaine topical cream and use an alcohol based wipe to cleanse the skin of all oil based products before the eMatrix procedure is done for best effectiveness.
Ematrix uses fractionated radio-frequency to improve the skin. It can be safely performed around the eyes by qualified providers.
