Can I use an abdominal muscle toner after having abdominal mesh hernia repair operation?
Answer: Core strengthening Pilates and Yoga after Abdominal hernia repair I have strongly encourage the use of core srengthening exercises advocated by Pilates or Yoga instructors as opposed to traditional "crunches" pushed by body builders. The former reinforces the abdomen and promotes a flat concave toned abdominal appearance. The latter promotes the appearance of a "six pack" with a convex or bulging contour - think of a competitive body builder. This is more likely to produce a disruption of the hernia repair and may even result in a long term risk of recurrence due to the straining against a closed glottis - called the Valsalva maneuver. This may increase abdominal pressure and lead to hernia formation. In any event discuss this with your surgeon who may have strong feelings one way or the other.

Answer: Ok to use muscle toner- but please check w/ your surgeon first!
Tummy tucks are a very popular way to contour the abdomen. Patients experiencing this surgery should anticipate a significant recovery process. After the surgery, patients may have numbness, tingling, bruising and swelling. We also ask that our patients delay returning to the gym for at least 6 to 8 weeks after the surgery.
In your case, it may help to wait slightly longer if you have had a hernia repair as well.
Once you have healed from your hernia repair and abdominoplasty, confirm with your general surgeon and plastic surgeon to make sure it is safe to return to full activities and understand what limitations they may place on the amount of weight that you can lift as well as the type of exercises you may perform.

Answer: Fine to Exercise Aplasty Muscles After they're Healed Once the abdominal muscles have healed after the surgery, it's fine to resume exercise. Wait at least three months and start off very slowly. But listen to the advice of your surgeon. He/she is the one who knows when it willbe strong enough.
