Irritated eyes after rhinoplasty - 2 months post-op.

Question

Hi , I'm about two months post rhino and I have developed over the past two weeks very irritated eyes - dry eyes and puffy eyelids , gritty sensation in eyes - been to 2 optometrists who have chalked it down to allergies ? I had rhino , septo and reduction of turbinates - is the eye issue related to this and well it get better within time ? Any help is appreciated

Irritation of the eyes immediately after rhinoplasty could be due to a corneal abrasion suffered during surgery. Irritation that develops two months after rhinoplasty would be unlikely to be related to the rhinoplasty. However, a through history and physical exam is the only way to know for sure whether or not your symptoms are related to your recent nasal procedure.

Your eyes can be somewhat affected immediately after rhinoplasty and sinus surgery. You may find that lubricating eye drops will help keep you comfortable. Since this has become a problem two months after a rhinoplasty, you should consider seeing an ophthalmologist, particularly if you develop signs of infection like fever or pus.
