I'm not interested in reducing the width of my bridge, and the lower cost and recovery time of a tip rhinoplasty is a big plus. I only want to reduce the size of the tip of my nose while retaining its shape. is this possible with tip rhinoplasty or is it likely that a full rhinoplasty will be needed? of course, a consult in person would be best to examine and answer this for certain. this is for my pre-consult research, thanks for your time!

In your frontal comparison photo, the bridge appears reasonably straight and proportionate, while the tip looks somewhat rounded and broader than the upper third; the simulated change is subtle rather than a completely different nose. If examination confirms that the bones, bridge, and septum do not need treatment, surgery can be limited to the lower third using conservative cartilage reshaping, sutures, and support grafting as needed. However, making a tip smaller always changes its contours to some degree, and aggressive cartilage removal can cause pinching, collapse, or breathing problems. Preserving support is more important than simply trimming cartilage. Also, a limited operation does not always mean a dramatically easier recovery: tip swelling can persist for many months, especially with thicker skin. The terms “tip rhinoplasty” and “full rhinoplasty” are less important than a precise surgical plan; a surgeon may use an open or closed approach without altering the bridge. Standardized frontal, profile, smiling, and basal photographs plus examination of skin thickness, tip strength, projection, and airway will determine whether your goal can safely remain tip-only.

Hi, thanks for your question. Based off the degree of change in the photo on the right, you would likely be looking at more comprehensive rhinoplasty. The simulated photo shows that the upper 2/3s of the nose are significantly thinner and the tip is more refined. This is exactly the kind of question that's great to bring into a consult, and the short answer is yes, a tip rhinoplasty, often performed through suturing techniques and conservative cartilage reshaping, can absolutely reduce tip size and refine its appearance while leaving the bridge completely untouched. For the right anatomy this can be done with a smaller incision and shorter recovery than a full rhinoplasty. 
The main thing that determines whether a tip-only approach is sufficient is what's actually contributing to the size. If it's primarily cartilage bulk or splay, a tip rhinoplasty alone is often very effective, but if a meaningful portion of the fullness comes from thicker skin and soft tissue overlying the cartilage, that can be a limiting factor regardless of how much the cartilage itself is refined. 
As you noted, an in-person consultation with a plastic surgeon would be the best way to determine which category your anatomy falls into and whether your goals are achievable with a tip-only approach.
