hello thank you for your question and provided information as well.. based in your question the difference is that the abdominal marking is a small lipo is done in the area of the rectus abdominal and a bit of fat is left to give the look of the abdominals, and the repair of the muscles in this process is removed the excess of skin, fat the flap and approaches the abdominal muscles with a plication.Ideally, it should be evaluated in person by a plastic surgeon to determine for which procedure you would apply.
Ab etching and muscle repair are two different procedures, although they both aim to improve the appearance of the abdominal area.Ab Etching: Ab etching, also known as abdominal etching or six-pack sculpting, is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to enhance the definition of the abdominal muscles by removing excess fat and sculpting the remaining fat to create a more defined and toned appearance. This procedure is typically sought by individuals who have a relatively low body fat percentage but desire more visible abdominal muscles.Muscle Repair: Muscle repair, also known as abdominal muscle repair or rectus diastasis repair, is a surgical procedure aimed at correcting diastasis recti, which is a condition where the abdominal muscles separate or become stretched apart, often due to pregnancy or significant weight fluctuations. During muscle repair surgery, the surgeon sutures the separated abdominal muscles back together to restore strength and stability to the core muscles. This procedure is not focused on enhancing muscle definition but rather on restoring the integrity of the abdominal wall. While both procedures involve surgery in the abdominal area, their goals and techniques differ. Ab etching primarily addresses excess fat and focuses on enhancing muscle definition, while muscle repair targets the underlying muscle structure to correct functional issues such as abdominal wall weakness. It's essential to consult with a qualified plastic surgeon to determine which procedure is most suitable for your specific concerns and goals.
Thanks for your question. Abdominal etching is a liposuction technique, where the patient's natural muscles are carved out from the fat layer covering them. This is best performed in surgery when the patient has a BMI less than 30.Muscle repair is performed during a tummy tuck, when the muscles are visualized and physically sewed together. When considering surgery, make sure you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon.
Thank you for your question. Etching is a technique that involves liposculpting the area as opposed to muscle repair is sewing the muscles back together. I suggest you seek a board certified plastic surgeon and discuss your options. Best of luck!Dhaval PatelDouble Board Certified Plastic SurgeonHoffman EstatesOakbrookOrland ParkChicago
Hi, thank you for your question regrading whether rectus abdominis (abdominal muscle) repair is the same thing as ab etching. Simple answer is "no", abdominal muscle repair is not the same as abdominal etching. Usually, abdominal muscle repair is preformed during an abdominoplasty. During muscle repair the lateral or outer borders of the rectus abdominis are brought together . This suturing imbricates or folds the rectus muscle inside. This surgical maneuver not only strengthens the abdominal wall, but results in a firm, tight, and FLAT abdomen. In stark contrast, abdominal etching is a fat removal achieved with liposuction, specifically a VASER liposuction machine. During VASER liposuction the abdominal fat around the muscles is melted and the skin is tightened. VASER abdominal liposuction highlights the abdominal muscles. Thus, during muscle repair, sutures are used to tighten and flatten the abdominal muscles; during ab etching, a VASER hi def liposuction machine is used to remove abdominal fat and expose, highlight, and contour the abdominal wall leading to a more etched or muscular abdomen compered to just muscle repair. I hope that i have answered your question about muscle repair and abdominal etching. Before you make any decisions regarding would suggest you seek consultation with a VASER hi def liposuction expert. Please seek an experienced, board-certified, plastic surgeon.
