Hi There. I would not worry if you went in for a superficial chemical peel. There are different depths of chemical peels. There are some superficial chemical peels where you can have no downtime or some mild dryness. There is also deeper chemical peels were you can have 3-5 days of downtime. If you are good with taking care of your skin and exfoliating on a regular basis sometimes you wont get as much of that peeling and flaking. I would suggest following up with your provider to see what kind of peel you had done. Hope this helped!
Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started. There are many different types of chemical peels. There are different agents that can be used and them many different strengths. If nothing has happened in 3 weeks, then nothing will. What they all have in common is that the chemical reaction takes place immediately starting the peeling process followed by healing. It sounds to me that whatever type of peel you had, it just wasn't strong enough or did not penetrate the epidermis/dermis enough to stimulate the reaction. I would recommend following up with the person that performed the peel and getting their opinion, as well. Good luckDr. Smart
