I have a slight double chin that bothers me because I am already very thin. I'd love to get rid of it but don't actually want all of it gone, because it softens off my somewhat pointy chin and I feel like a very, very slight one would work with my face. I've read that it takes 3-4 treatments to see results. If I'm not looking to get rid of all of it and already don't have much fat, how likely would I be able to achieve my desired results with only 1-2 treatments?

Answer: Kybella for slight double chin Thank you for your question about Kybella. Your questions are all great! Kybella does permanently melt the existing fat cells, however you produce new fat cells if there is weight gain. Kybella is made of deoxycholic acid, and works by dissolving fat cells. You will immediately see the effects of this fat dissolving action, as your under chin area will begin to feel very "jiggly" and you will have some slight swelling as this chemical reaction takes place. As for downtime, there really isn't much. You will typically have swelling in the area for a few days, and it is possible to have slight bruising. The full effect of the treatment isn't typically evident for about 8-10 weeks, and treatments should be scheduled about 8-10 weeks apart. To be sure, see two or more experienced, licensed and board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

Answer: Kybella for "double chin" Thank you for your question. The two best options for excess fat in the submental area are Kybella, liposuction or a face lift. Kybella is a great option for the patient who has some extra submental fat and does not want surgery. Liposuction can work very well to remove this excess fatty tissue and give patients a more refined jaw line. Patients with excess skin and neck bands along with the excess fat are better candidates for a face lift. The best thing to do is see a board certified plastic surgeon who is an ASAPS member in your area to explore all the available options. Best of luck.
