I have a slight double chin that bothers me because I am already very thin. I'd love to get rid of it but don't actually want all of it gone, because it softens off my somewhat pointy chin and I feel like a very, very slight one would work with my face. I've read that it takes 3-4 treatments to see results. If I'm not looking to get rid of all of it and already don't have much fat, how likely would I be able to achieve my desired results with only 1-2 treatments?

Answer: Kybella for "double chin" Thank you for your question. The two best options for excess fat in the submental area are Kybella, liposuction or a face lift. Kybella is a great option for the patient who has some extra submental fat and does not want surgery. Liposuction can work very well to remove this excess fatty tissue and give patients a more refined jaw line. Patients with excess skin and neck bands along with the excess fat are better candidates for a face lift. The best thing to do is see a board certified plastic surgeon who is an ASAPS member in your area to explore all the available options. Best of luck.

Answer: Kybella: Double chin Dear krs256, Thank you for your question. Kybella can be a reasonable option to help treat the fatty tissue under your chin. We usually recommend to patients that it may take up to 3 treatments or more to see the results they are seeking. Depending on your chin and neck areas, it is possible you may require less number of treatments, but it is difficult to tell without an in-person assessment. I recommend you seek further evaluation with a facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon where they can provide a thorough examination and discuss with you the best treatment options as well as expected results.
