Thank you for your question. While I generally recommend that my patients refrain from all exercise and/or heavy lifting for a minimum of four weeks following their blepharoplasty procedure, it is important that you discuss any post-operative restrictions with your operating surgeon. Your operating surgeon is most qualified to answer this for you as he/she is most familiar with your specific case and healing, and it is important to remember that there is no universal standard as each surgeon adopts their own specific protocols based upon their experience and training. Please follow up with your doctor and I wish you all of the best on your recovery!
Dear WestlcThank you for your question! As a rule for my patients - 10 days is the return to activity timeline. However- this is up to your surgeon. With Warm RegardsTrevor M Born MD
Although the recovery from an upper eyelid blepharoplasty can be quite easy, I advise my patients to refrain from heavy activity for at least 2 weeks following surgery to prevent swelling or delayed healing.
I usually have patients wait about 3-4 weeks to make sure that they are healing properly. Best to ask your surgeon.
I assess my patients 1 week after surgery and prior to returning to the gym. They usually look great approx 1 week after upper eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty or Ptosis surgery, which are my specialties), and can return to the gym after that visit -- I usually just advice taking it easy and no extreme lifting for approx 2 weeks after surgery. Discuss with your surgeon, and best of luck in your recovery.
westlc,On average my patients wait at least 2 weeks before returning to the gym, and may be longer depending on if your exercise routine involves heavy lifting. Ultimately, its up to your surgeon, so be sure to ask him/her. Best of luckDr. Julie Edween
The earliest you can start working out is one week, but it is safer to wait two weeks if you can stand it. Start slow and work up to full speed over a weeks time. You want to avoid potentially causing a blood vessel breaking open by straining or increasing your heart rate and blood pressure.
Although the swelling and bruising will be much improved after 7 days, I generally advise my patients to wait 2 week before going back to the gym. Best to follow your surgeon's instructions closely after surgery.
Upper lid blepharoplasty is typically shorter recovery than a lower lid blepharoplsty. I allow my patients to resume light aerobic exercise (walking, treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike) after one week provided that the wound is healing properly when the sutures are removed. I will allow patent to resume full exercise and resistance training after another one to two weeks. The main concern with this is tearing the wound open with exertion. The wound integrity is typically good enough at 2-3 weeks to allow for this. Consult with your surgeon for their guidelines.
Upper eyelid surgery is one of the easiest procedures from which to recover. Sutures are removed within 72 hours and I often perform it under straight local anesthesia without sedation. Nevertheless, it would be advisable to refrain from exercise in the gym for at least two weeks afterwards although you could walk for exercise much sooner.
I agree that your eye shape seems to confer a sad appearance. However, you must allow enough time for healing. It takes 6 months to 1 year to heal fully from lower eyelid surgery and its not fair to you or your surgeon to judge so soon. Eyelid surgery is always...
It is difficult to give any specific advice without pre and post op photos. I general most of the swelling should be gone by 6 weeks, but not in every case. If this is residual fat then you might require a revision, but this shouldn't be contemplated for at least six month to allow for complete...
Thank you for your question and for submitting your photos. The lateral tightening that you describe is actually a fairly common procedure. Your photo does show the slight lateral ectropion that you describe. It does appear that you have had a Rhinoplasty at the same time so the swelling in...
