	Her nose was much too long after her primary rhinoplasty. Inadequate work on the tip leaving it too long or too projecting forward is the most common error I see from previous rhinoplasties.


Revision rhinoplasty for a long nose

This young women had a prior rhinoplasty.  She was not satisfied with the irregular tip and nostril shape.  She was also unhappy with her indistinct profile.  Additionally she suffered from breathing obstruction.  She underwent a revision surgery that involved cartilage grafting from the rib.  The procedure was open. She had spreader grafts, alar rim grafts, alar baton grafts, and a columellar strut graft.  The nostrils were also resized with a marginal and alar base reduction.

	This female revision rhinoplasty patient's prior surgery left her with visible hump on the bridge of her nose. Her problems were corrected through closed rhinoplasty techniques.


Revision Rhinoplasty

	This patient underwent open secondary (revision) rhinoplasty with rib cartilage grafts to correct problems that arose from a prior surgery with another physician.


	This revision (secondary) rhinoplasty patient had two prior rhinoplasty surgeries in Europe. Her distorted nasal tip and collapsed bridge were corrected via an open approach using ear cartilage grafts.

55-64 year old woman treated with Revision Rhinoplasty

This women had a prior rhinoplasty and then a revision by the same surgeon.  She was still dissatisfied with the tip shape and over projection.  She desired a revision to address these issues as well as other subtle defects.  There was also a component of the surgery that addressed breathing problems.  An open approach with rib graft was used.  Given that his is her 3rd surgery even more time is required for edema to improve but the results are becoming evident.

Revision (3rd) rhinoplasty

This women had a prior rhinoplasty with significant deformities of the tip and nostrils.  She desired improvements.  She underwent revision surgery with focus on correcting prior damage to the lower lateral cartilages.  Rib cartilage grafts were used to  rebuild these important structures that are important for nasal shape and function.  The post op photos are from a relatively close follow up time, thus edema (swelling) is still present.  Nonetheless, the progress made in surgery is evident in the tip, nostrils, and elsewhere.

Revision rhionplasty

This women had a rhinoplasty several years ago to address deformities from a childhood injury.  Unfortunately, she was left with an open roof deformity, irregular dorsal aesthetic lines, insufficient tip support, and residual breathing obstruction.   She underwent an open revision with rib graft.

	This young woman had bossae (plural of bossa), a common contour deformity of the tip of the nose, as well as an overly upturned and over-projected tip, both as a result of her original rhinoplasty procedure years ago. She underwent revision rhinoplasty to help correct these problems and to regain an elegant and natural contour to her nose.

This man presented to see Dr. Ward several years after a rhinoplasty to remove a dorsal hump. He was unhappy with that concave nature of the dorsum and the upturned, pig-like tip. He underwent a rib graft and revision rhinoplasty to reconstruct the nose.

We checked in with this patient at her 6 month Post-Op appointment -- here's how she's doing now at 1 year.Revision Rhinoplasty is a surgery is used to repair undesirable effects from a previous nose job, most often with another physician. Not all plastic surgery procedures provide the results you desire, whether because the surgeon is inexperienced or unforeseen complications may arise. Revision rhinoplasty works to correct these undesired effects as much as possible, sometimes by grafting ear or rib cartilage if there isnt enough septal cartilage present to support the nasal structure. Revision rhinoplasty can be very complex  depending on the amount of scar tissue present and the preservation of the original nasal structure  and can last up to five hours. The risk of needing revision rhinoplasty is significantly reduced by seeing a board-certified facial plastic surgeon in the first place, so it is vital that you do your due diligence when choosing your surgeon.

After getting great results from a rhinoplasty 8 months ago, our patient got a surgical lip lift. At just 6 weeks post-op.

This patient had a severely deviated septum problem, after his first Rhinoplasty with another surgeon he was still suffering from breathing difficulties. He had his Revision Rhinoplasty and he is happy with the result and breath much better from his nose.
