43-year-old man had an appendectomy for a ruptured appendix. The indented, depressed scar caused shadowing of the skin surface. Scar revision included removal of the scarred tissue under local anesthesia, and approximation of fresh tissue edges in a multi-layer, plastic closure resulting into a more aesthetic, flat and narrow scar. Topical scar creams help to lighten the color and improve the texture of the scar.
