10 Celebrities Who Are Open About Their Filler Experiences and Where They Got Them

Interested in trying fillers? You’re not alone. Below, we rounded up 10 celebrities who have been open about using the popular injectable.

Injectable fillers are noninvasive, temporary, and boast a quick recovery time, so it’s no wonder that pop stars, reality TV fixtures, and supermodels have embraced the popular procedure. And the power of fillers isn’t only limited to plumping lips and cheekbones; they can also provide a solution to common skin-care woes, like dark circles under the eyes and pitted acne scars, and take the place of surgery, as in the case of liquid rhinoplasty.

Before deciding to get injected, it’s important to familiarize yourself with the various types of dermal fillers out there, to find the right one for you. Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers—including JuvédermRestylane, and Belotero—closely mimic the naturally occurring hyaluronic acid found in our bodies, give instant plumping results, and dissolve in a natural looking way over time. These fillers can be removed with hyaluronidase injections, if you’re unhappy with the results.

Biostimulatory fillers, on the other hand, are designed to stimulate collagen production in the long term and don’t deliver results as quickly as HA-based filler. They’re semipermanent and, therefore, better suited for patients with extensive volume loss. Sculptra is a biostimulatory filler that’s frequently used to treat gaunt cheeks and hollow temples, but it’s also one of few products that can be safely injected into the buttocks; Radiesse is often used to add definition to bony areas of the face, restore skeletal hands, and smooth cellulite dimples on the buttocks and thighs; and Bellafill has become the go-to biostimulatory filler for elevating depressed acne scars and deep smile lines, though it requires allergy testing before being injected, because it contains bovine collagen.

Kylie Jenner

The beauty mogul has had one of the most public lip transformations, which she has credited to Los Angeles physician Dr. Simon Ourian. Back in 2015, she opened up for the first time about her famous pout during an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. “I have temporary lip fillers,” she revealed. “It’s just an insecurity of mine, and it’s what I wanted to do.”

In an interview with The New York Times that same year, Jenner revealed that Dr. Ourian had used Juvéderm fillers, which cost $750 on average, to enhance her lips and praised his “natural” technique. “He’s the best, and he’s super natural about it,” she gushed. “I was going to somebody before, and it was just looking crazy.”

Speaking to Access Hollywood about his approach, Dr. Ourian noted, “Over the period of time, Kylie used a lot more [syringes] because we had to go from a very small set of lips and slowly enhance it. It wasn’t just a one-time deal. It was a slow process.”

In 2018, Jenner responded to an Instagram comment that said she looked different by writing, “I got rid of all my filler.”

Kim Zolciak-Biermann

The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star has been an open book about her cosmetic surgery history. She shared that she had her lips filled again in February, following her announcement that she’d decided to have them dissolved because her lips appeared uneven. Zolciak-Biermann saw Atlanta-based physician Dr. Thuy Doan for the procedure.

“Had my lips dissolved and then Dr. Doan refilled them kind of to, like, make them perfect,” she said via Instagram. “I really wanted them closer to my nose per se. I wanted, like, a little pout here in the center. And I really wanted my line to be defined.”

Dr. Doan explained her technique to balance out the Bravo star’s lips and regain their original color: “As Kim mentioned before, her lips got to the point where [when] she smiled, less of her teeth [was] showing,” she shared. “Due to the compounded previous fillers, she was losing color/pigment in her lips. To reverse ALL this, it took multiple vials of reversal agent. I used my favorite softer medium filler on her and [daughter] Brielle [Biermann].”

Britney Spears

While discussing her skin-care routine in a 2014 interview, the singer admitted to having undergone a lip augmentation procedure, which was done by Beverly Hills, California, board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Raj Kanodia.

“A doctor I see, Dr. Kanodia, does fun stuff to me sometimes—I’ve had lip injections before,” she said. “He has this peptide-based face-care product; it’s green and slimy, and you mix it together and put it on your face. It does wonders. You leave it on overnight. Can you tell I love skin care?”

When it comes to his choice of fillers, Dr. Kanodia has said that he prefers to use hyaluronic acid–based fillers. “I don’t use fillers as fillers. I use fillers as lifters,” his website states. “In my opinion, hyaluronic acid products, such as Juvéderm and Restylane, are the best fillers. They can be neutralized and reversed.”

Anna Faris

In her 2017 memoir, Unqualified, the actress detailed her cosmetic surgery history, revealing that she decided to have filler injected into her upper lip, to overcome her insecurity. “I started getting lip injections in my upper lip,” she wrote. “I did it for a little bit and I noticed a small difference, but no one else ever said anything. I kept wondering if anybody else even noticed.” Faris later admitted that she decided to “wean” herself off fillers after friends pointed out that her lips appeared too big.

Jessica Simpson

Back in 2016, the Open Book author recalled her past experience with lip injections during an interview with Glamour.  “I had that Restylane stuff,” she explained. “But it fades—it went away in like four months.”

Lisa Rinna

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star has admitted to not being happy with the silicone injections she got in her lips when she was 23. More than 10 years later, Rinna enlisted the help of Beverly Hills, California, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Garth Fisher to remove the damaged tissue and reshape her lips.

But her pout isn’t the only place she’s had filler injected. In a 2008 interview, she opened up about having had a little too much Juvéderm injected into her face. “At my age, you have to look good if you want to continue working,” she said. “Sometimes we do things to help, and I did. I had tried Botox, and then fillers came into the plastic surgery world, and you think, ‘That’s not a bad idea.’” She added, “I thought I looked great. It was a little bit more than normal, but you think it’ll go down, so I wasn’t scared. But two days ago, I saw a photo of myself at a party and went, ‘Oh, jeez. I have too much filler.’”

Katy Perry

The singer told Refinery29 that she underwent a tear trough treatment to banish her chronic dark circles. “I’ve done lasers and got [filler] injections under my eyes for the hollowing—which I’d recommend for everyone who wants a solution for their dark circles—but all of my assets are real. We’re getting away from that negative stigma about physical alterations,” she said. “Of course, always be your authentic self—but if someone wants a nose job that makes them feel better, and they love their profile more because of it, it’s like, go ahead! Do whatever makes you feel better about yourself. Stay in therapy, but get it, girl.”

In the past, Perry has been spotted leaving the office of Beverly Hills, California, board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Jason Diamond.

Kaley Cuoco

While discussing her cosmetic surgery history with Women’s Health in 2016, the Big Bang Theory star shared that she had a deep line filled on her neck, a procedure that is typically done using hyaluronic acid dermal fillers like Juvéderm and Restylane. “Recently, I had a filler in a line in my neck I’ve had since I was 12,” she told the outlet. “As much as you want to love your inner self… I’m sorry, you also want to look good. I don’t think you should do it for a man or anyone else, but if it makes you feel confident, that’s amazing.”

Christie Brinkley

During a 2016 interview with People, the supermodel shared that she had used fillers in the past to keep her face looking refreshed and youthful. While Brinkley did not reveal where she’d had filler injected, she credited her plump complexion to the combination of cosmetic surgery, laser treatments, and the Recapture 360 Night Anti-Aging Cream from her namesake skin-care brand.

“Occasionally, I’ll do a little bit of filler,” she said. “Some women on my Instagram will say, ‘Oh, she’s so fake. It’s not her skin care, she gets filler.’ And it’s like, okay… if I only did filler and I didn’t use my Recapture 360, I wouldn’t have the moisturizing, I wouldn’t have that bounce back… it’s the whole thing. You have to take care of the texture of your skin.”

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi

In 2015, the Jersey Shore star revealed that she had started getting lip injections from New York City–based board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Ramtin Kassir, to enhance the size of her pout. “I’ve always hated my thin lips and never thought I had the balls to get needles in my lips to perfect them, but I did!” she shared on Instagram. “I love my ‘natural beauty,’ but being able to enhance my lips to make me feel better about myself is life.”

One year later, she documented a touch-up procedure she had with Dr. Kassir—which also marked her first time getting Botox—on social media.
