I have Cystic Fibrosis and my doctor won't take me off Azithromycin, or give me an alternative. But I have facial hair that is causing me a lot of mental distress. I have had a small patch test done under my chin which didn't cause any adverse side effects. But my clinic says that Azithromycin makes you photosensitive. And what could go wrong if I had a photosensitive reaction to the laser hair removal?
I take it for acne 3 times a day. I hate the idea of having to choose between getting the laser hair removal done and having the acne return. Amoxicillin is the only antibiotic so far that has worked, and I also tried many birth controls and topical creams unsuccessfully before now. I do think I can usually go about a week of not taking the pills before I notice the acne return. Just want some advice before moving forward. Thanks!
I started ampicillin on Tuesday when my strep throat culture came back positive and I'm supposed to take the medications for 10 days. I have an appointment for laser hair removal on friday but the technician refused to see me because she is afraid it may cause photosensitivity. I've done some research and found that ampicillin doesnt cause photosensitivity, is this correct? how can I convince her to see me (she has competitive prices thats why I want to keep the appointment).
Its my understanding some antibiotics cause photosensitivity. Is it okay to receive spectra laser treatments while on metronidazole? I have looked into the side effects and precautions for this medication and sensitivity to the sun is not one of them. I will be finishing my course of metronidazole this Friday morning, hours before I am scheduled for a spectra laser treatment.
I have been undertaking Diode laser hair removal on my face (PCOS hirsutism) and after an enforced break want to continue. My doctor has suggested trialling LDN for other concerns. Does LDN represent any increased photosensitivity or melasma risk - either for natural sunlight exposure OR laser hair removal and how long would I have to suspend it before and after a laser treatment if it might cause either of these issues? I have sensitive skin which burns in the sun easily.
How soon AFTER a SINGLE (large) application of Elidel cream on my eyebrows and skin just above do I continue to be at risk of photosensitive reactions from walking around outside /exposure to natural sunlight. The warnings on Elidel are very strenuous about avoiding exposure during treatment but how long after does this risk persist? weeks? I was undergoing Diode laser hair removal on my facehow long before I can safely resume this in case the cream or its effects spread when I washed it off
