Hello ladies!!!
I am from a medical family so I am extremely cautious regarding anything to do with my body or sx. I’ve had a BBL so I am no stranger to sx..
I traveled to Turkey to have my nose done by Dr. Umit Taskin. Here’s my review.
How to pick your dr. What kind of nose do you want?A cute piggy nose. A closed or open rhinoplasty sx Do you want to keep your ethnicity? When you know the nose you want to pick your dr based on his expertise. I wanted a slim nose but I also wanted to retain my ethnicity. I did not want a barbie or piggy nose. Beware a lot of drs in Turkey do the piggy upturned cute nose. Don’t believe table pictures. Speak to patients who are a couple of months or weeks off the table. I researched the sx for over a year and was so confused about who to use. Every dr has an unhappy patient who claims to be botched or face ruined. If possible ask unhappy patients what went wrong. A lot of them just don’t like their nose, or their expectations weren’t met. It's very important that you set yourself realistic expectations. No one, not even the dr knows how your new nose will heal. Everyone is different and will heal at their own pace.
Also, once you touch your nose- you may need to touch other areas of your face- chin implant, etc. So take that into consideration. Flying and Treatment During Covid Flying is an absolute nightmare during covid. So before boarding a plane be very aware of the emotional stress and toll that traveling will take on you. Read up on all the requirements/restrictions of where you are going and have backup plans. A lot of countries will not allow you in unless you have a PCR test, and the test certificate must specifically state PCR test. A lot of counties will tell you that you must self isolate for 10 days before you can go out. How do you do sx if you are supposed to be self-isolating? Can you afford to stay in the country for 10 days of isolation plus recovery time? Returning home with a rhinoplasty is uncomfortable as hell. If it’s a transatlantic flight try and book a business class so you will be more comfortable. These are all real considerations. Sx during COVID is daunting but as this virus is here to stay we just have to get on with it. The hospital that Taskin uses is state of the art. Hands down the best hospital I’ve ever seen- and as said I’m from a medical family and live in the UK. The staff is well trained, you have test,ed, and are cleared for sx twice by the hospital (not Taskin). One time the day before your sx and the second time the day of your sx. So if you have any pre-existing medical conditions you have to let themknow; because they will find out! Hospital is clean as a whistle and staff are constantly masked up. Now for the good stuff...
I had two consultations the day before my sx; hospital and with Taskin. Dr. Taskin did a picture morph of my nose... my final nose looked nothing like the picture. Came out way better! So don’t pay too much attention to the picture morph. The consultation is best to let him know your exact expectations. His English isn’t that great so sometimes his bedside manner comes off as being arrogant. He’s not, it’s a language barrier. He’s actually a really nice, sweet, and understanding man. He also has an assistant who is amazing. Any concerns just speak to him. Taskin will give you all his details. Hospital consultation is intense. Blood, lungs, and EKG. You also meet with a dr to discuss all your labs and medical history. SX Day!! Got to the hospital bright and early. Was there at 7am. You are not allowed to eat from midnight the night before. My SX was scheduled for about 1pm but was delayed by 8 hours!! Went in at about 7pm. Once I was cleared by the hospital it was sx time. Taskin came in twice to see me.- once in the morning and when I was in the waiting room for the SX. His assistant is called Fuzil and he’s amazing. He speaks perfect English and is a lifesaver. He will answer all your questions. He came and hung out with me for a couple of hours before my SX. but I just slept most of the day. Then it’s lights out! The medical team that looks after you while you are asleep is amazing. The biggest risk of this sx is an inexperienced anesthetist. There is one assign to you in the OR and another 2 or 3 monitoring you virtually on some computerized screen and one in the hall ready to run in case of an emergency. I cannot emphasize how important it is to do your sx in a well-equipped hospital. Memorial hospital is probably the best in turkey. I’ve attached videos. So SX is all done and I wake up in recovery. When I woke up my nose felt like an elephant was sitting on it and it hurt like hell; a dull throbbing pain. But the pain only lasted for about 15 minutes or so. I honestly don’t remember being wheeled back to my room as I was so out of it. I was observed every hour and given IV pain medication, blood pressure, and all my vitals were check. It’s like that for about the first 6 hours. SX day is one of the most uncomfortable days but it’s more due to the adjustment of now having to breathe through your mouth. There’s a splint in each nostril so you literally cannot breathe through your nose. Between 6-8 hours after the SX a nurse will remove the splint. It doesn’t hurt it’s just a very weird feeling. My SX was delayed by a couple of hours so I had dinner at about midnight. It’s was gross by the way. Didn’t eat it. I had some fruit that I brought with me. I was made to walk about so as to prevent blood clots. I was given two nostril sprays - saltwater solution and a medicated one, antibiotics, some antiseptic cream, and pain killers. Then I was released! I was told to eat something at the cafe downstairs (big chef) and head back to the hotel. Recovery- day 1-6The rhinoplasty itself doesn’t hurt. Honestly, no pain at all from my nose. What hurt like a MF was my rib! OMG, it hurt like hell. I couldn’t even move in bed without help when in the hospital. Worse rib pain is day 1-3. After that, it subsides to a dull throb. Rhino recovery is just uncomfortable and kind of gross. There is so much mucus during this healing stage it’s a joke. You cant blow your nose, sneeze, or yawn. So the mucus just has to drip out or you use cotton buds to ease it out. BUT U CANNOT INSERT THE COTTON BUD INTO YOUR NOSE. CAN ONLY BE USE AT THE BASE OF YOUR NOSTRILS. Bring a lot of gauze so you can tape it under your nostril and the mucus drips on it. The sprays really helped me to decongest so by day 4 I could kind of breathe through my nostrils but I didn’t force it. Caste off Day!! The cast is removed on day 6.Now the big reveal... It’s a little bit painful as Taskin removes the tape and caste and my nose was so tender and sore. He also cleans it. But me being black I did a second clean with rosewater and micella water. He did a quick check of my nose and was like wonderful! Dr. Taskin then taped back up my nose with just surgical tape, gave me instructions for aftercare, and was like you are free to go home to London. . I was like huh that’s it? He’s like yup. Bye-bye. Lol. It’s literally a ten minute (if that) consultation. He gave me a hug, we took some pictures and that was that. A lot of people say they hate their nose at caste off but honestly, I looovvveddd my results. My nose was very swollen so it was still big but I could see the definition and once all the swelling goes down it will look dope! What else can I say, Rhinoplasty is very much self-recovery. I've probably spoken to Taskin about three times outside my consultation. He’s on WhatsApp so you can always call or message him if you have any concerns. Personally, I spoke to Fazuil way more and he’s epic. So supportive and just amazing. Traveling back to London. Caste off was on a Tuesday afternoon and I left turkey on a Thursday morning. I would’ve left on Wednesday but I wasn’t sure of the quarantine restrictions so I waited for the full ten days before I left. Wore a mask from the second I left the hotel to the second I got home and it wasn’t too bad. The tip is really sensitive so it felt very strange to have cloth on it but it was actually ok. I wore a surgical mask and put my cloth on o top of it. The surgical mask can be pinched so it’s not actually touching your nose. Day 6 onwards Still very swollen. Still a mucus bucket but not as much. Don’t need the gauze anymore. By day 10 I was only congested at night. Don’t breathe through my mouth anymore. Final pointsFollow all post-op care. Elevate your head. So important DO NOT TOUCH YOUR NOSE JUST LEAVE IT ALONE TO HEAL. Book a nice hotel because you are room bound because of covid. Book an international chain if possible. 5 star in turkey is it 3 star in the western world!!! Or better still a nice air bnb. Travel light- you only need loungewear and two outfits. Hospital day and consultation day. Bring snacks- food in turkey is [RS Bleep] unless you are at an international hotel or aren’t a fussy eater. Bring your laptop- Netflix is your best friendRemember you are there to have sx- don’t sweat the small stuff. Let it go, heal and go home. Please feel free to message me if you have any further questions. Good luck picking your Dr.Hands down I recommend Dr. Taskin!

These are my before and after pics. I’m now two weeks out today and I am still very swollen.
I’m at the phase where I don’t like the shape of my nose at all so I’ve retaped it and will leave it on for another couple of days to help with the swelling. My tip is so swollen it’s given me a piggy nose effect but I can see it’s swelling so I just have to be patient.

After pics. But still very very swollen.
Ladies I cannot stress how patient you have to be during this healing process. Your nose changes every couple of days. So trust the process and heal. Will post another update at the end of the week.

Hello ladies. I am 16 days post op from my rhinoplasty.
I’ve seen so many reviews about people bouncing back and out and about after just 10 days following the procedure... this is not the norm!!!!
Recovery is rough, long and hard. The first 14 days are tough but after that of gets much easier. Btw day 14 and 17 you wake up and you actually feel like a human being. A lot of the swelling will have gone down and you will begin to see a first glimpse of what your new nose will look like.
It’s very normal to have uneven swelling ie one nostril will be less swollen than the other. Again, this is normal.
At this point of the journey all I can add is to keep on taping your nose- 24 hours of possible. It’s honestly the best way to get the swelling down. I still ice under my eyes and it’s helped..
I will continue taping my nose, changing it every couple of days and giving it a breather for a couple of hours on the day I retape!!
Happy healing. Xx

I had a total freak out..
Took of my tape today to check my swelling and my nose was sooo upturned. I freaked out!! I honestly thought I looked like Lil Kim or Miss Piggy. I called Dr Taskin and his assistant and they assured me it’s just swelling... I’m not happy at all. I’ve read up on it and apparently it’s a common thing. I pray it goes down!!

Upturned nose finally not so upturned. I was so scared that my nose was going to stay upturned. Thankfully Dr. Taskin’s assistant was able to calm me down and assure me it was just swelling.
Happy healing.

Hello!
Update...
My stitches in my mouth got infected; have to say it was very painful. Treatment was a a 5 day course of strong anti biotics and anti inflammatory pain meds. It took about 2 days for the pain and swelling to go down but infection cleared.
I basically had a reaction to the stitches in my mouth. I had lumps at nearly all of the surgical sites. Most of them went down and disappeared in the first couple of weeks but one was swollen and painful and this is what got infected.
It all healed now and the lump has definitely gone down. Still a little swollen and achy but no pain.
My nose is still a bit swollen but I’m loving the shape!
