I got my 2nd crown about 6 months ago. It would have been 2nd from the back on the top, but the back one was removed years ago, making it the back tooth. My first crown took months of adjusting before we got it right, so I was prepared for a struggle. I've had between 4 and 6 adjuments already including to the tooth it contacts on the bottom. I had a custom nightguard made, which helped a little. Nothing has fixed it. The tooth is always sensitive, but a nerve test didn't show anything wrong.
I have a 15 year old composite filling on my molar that had leaked over a year ago and I didn't even remember my dentist telling me this. I think I just forgot about it. Recently whenever I chew on the side with the filling, my tooth hurts. It only hurts upon pressure from chewing or brushing. Occasionally it hurts from saliva or air. I'm upset that my dentist didn't bother to fix the leak and waited until now to tell me to get a root canal. Should I just see another doctor for a refilling?
Got a temp crown on two teeth last week, and later in the day my dentist went on vacation until next week. I have been dealing with pain that worsens at night, trouble chewing, and swollen, red, sometimes bleeding gums. The initial decay was below the gumline so I understand a bit of irritation, but my gums weren't this red before. I also had a strip of dead tissue along the top of my gums come off and noticed some cement embedded. Could I be having a reaction to the cement? Or is it infected?
I got a root canal 2 months ago. I had a crown on the tooth so the dentist went through the crown. A week after the RC, I had discomfort when I chewed food or touched one side of the tooth. It went away until 2 weeks ago when the pain came back. Now it hurts to chew hard things, sensitive to touch the tooth with my tongue, toothbrush, etc. The pain is worse in different parts of the tooth. I wear a nightguard. I'm out of my dental insurance for the year so I'm not sure what options I have.
Permanent crown on tooth18 on 12/21, no root canal, decay under existing crown, deep cavity. Impression/new retainer made at Ortho 12/22. Crown came off on 12/28, extremely sensitive & re-cemented 12/29. Fine until a week ago. No sensitivity or pain when chewing but noticed jaw pain (subtle) and throbbing (crown) especially when wearing retainer (p.m.). New retainer has always felt like it fits so why now?Xray yesterday showed no sign of infection, also no sensitivity or pain when tapped on.
She put in crowns and I later switched to another dentist. I have much sensitivity to cold/chewing. My new dentist said the crown needs to be redone due to a gap/poor crown work. My new dentist contacted the old dentist to request a refund. The old dentist said she would redo the crown, but would not honor any refund if another dentist performed the work. Is this normal? She did a poor job the first time, I don't want to go back to her. What are my options? Thank you.
I had a root canal done. Now theres a throbbing pain that feels as if I am chewing on a metal/tinfoil. It also has that feeling when my tounge hits it when I swallow. It hurts unless pushed on or touched. Then the feeling will go away. What could be the cause. I still have the temp filling they put on it. And will get a real filling in about 2 weeks. But the pain is so intense.
For quite a while I have been sometimes biting my tongue and/or lip/cheek on the left side when I eat. Never on the right. I have 3 molar crowns on the left side & they appear to me to be shorter than what my original teeth were. Can upper molar caps that are changed in size of the original teeth be the cause of this? I didn't occur to me until I had one of the 3 molars pulled & a temporary crown put on. I then started biting my cheek so it made me wonder. Sorry no pics of old crowns
I had a root canal done at the end of October, in the beginning of November I had to get another small root taken out..i had a temp crown put on right before thanksgiving and then got my crown put on December 16th. At first when o got the crown put on it instantly felt better..i felt some pain when i had the temp crown on..but now the crown is on, it hurts to floss, it sometimes hurts to chew. the only way to describe the pain is like a cut or needle..i will call the dentist. What should I do
Older root canal still hurts. It hurts even to touch it. Had exrays done nothing showed up. Dentist gave me some antibiotics and it cleared up. It will get sore if I chew gum a lot. It is a front bottom tooth. It usually goes away after a day or so. But it's really throbing this time. Dentist said maybe some infection in the root canal said he could go in and scrap it out. But was not 100 % that would fix it. Went for years with no problem but a little soreness. Any hope for this root canal?
