Is it ok to have a sensation of chewing on tinfoil after getting a root canal?

I had a root canal done. Now there’s a throbbing pain that feels as if I am chewing on a metal/tinfoil. It also has that feeling when my tounge hits it when I swallow. It hurts unless pushed on or touched. Then the feeling will go away. What could be the cause. I still have the temp filling they put on it. And will get a real filling in about 2 weeks. But the pain is so intense.
