HX-MRSA abscess post op abdominoplasty. Several rounds bactrim ds. PMHX-healthy, nonsmoker, nondiabetic 18 weeks post op 2 stitch granulomas-can they heal w/out surgical intervention (one has not opened, the other has opened daily X 4 days w/small amt pus drainage)? Could a longer duration of abx be successful (6 weeks)? AND if they HAD to be removed what is the chance of ending up with another MRSA abscess?

Tummy tuck complication

You need to be followed closely clinically. In general, at your stage in recovery symptomatic foreign bodies or reactions to the form bodies (granulomas) may need to be removed. By symptomatic I mean recurrent infections, wound healing problems and/or tenderness. I think this excision will give you a higher probability of successful outcome compared to further antibiotic treatment. Best wishes.

Suture granuloma following MRSA infection

I do not understand if this is a granuloma of the permanent sutures or the resorbable ones, In the former it may be possible but unlikely and will probably best be treated with suture removal. Resorbable suture granulomas should resolve

Stitch abcess

You need to get the infected implants out.  Chances are that they may heal over only to drain again.  You likely should be treated for MRSA in advance just to be safe.

Suture Granulomas

It really depends if the sutures are absorbable or not.  If they are then sometimes it does clear it self up.  But if the reason why you are having the issue is from non-absorbable sutures, such as ethibond, then it does have to be remove in order to get the area to heal. Good luck.
