Waxing prior to Brazilian Butt LIft Surgery

It is known that shaving within 24 hours can increase your risk of infection. It is thought that this is due to the razor blade scraping off the outer layer of skin cells and thus losing some of your skin's barrier to infection. Is waxing necessary prior to Brazilian Buttock Lifting

The Brazilian Buttcok lifting procedure is becoming ever more popular. You do not need waxing of the genital area prior ot surgery. In fact it could be deleterious because of the increased incidence of infectionas shown in the literature for immediate shaving of the perioperative area. Waxing would presumably have the same effect. I instruct my patients not to shave or wax the genital area immediately prior to surgery. See video as shown on TV

Do Patients Have to Wax Their Genitals Prior to a Brazilian Butt Lift?

It has been repeatedly shown that shaving patients the night before surgery results in HIGHER infection rates. Essentially, bacteria which live in the hair follicles are brought up. As such, we may CLIP not shave patients on the OR table. If you want to shave a few days before and shower with surgical soap, that should take care of this concern. I do NOT demand that my patients wax this area prior to a Brazilian Butt Lift. Dr. Peter A Aldea

Hair removal and Brazilian Butt Lift

Dear Belgium, You are probably correct in your concerns about waxing before Brazilian Butt Lift surgery. It has been determined and accepted by most surgeons nowadays that hair removal by shaving may lead to increased infection rates. It would stand to reason that waxing might have a similar effect. Good luck! see video
