I am contemplating liposuction w.fat transfer, but am currently breastfeeding. I breastfeed the first 2 yrs & my infant will be 1 1/2 yrs old around the time of the procedure. It seems that the preference is to wait till you're done breastfeeding due to hormonal issues. Does this apply to advanced stages of nursing? What sort of influence will it have on the procedure if I have it done? Lastly, how long will I need to pump & discard before resuming breastfeeding?
Answer: Lipo after pregnancy Thank you for your question. You need to wait at least 6 months after giving birth and stop breastfeeding. I would suggest to be treated by board certified plastic surgeon with experience in this procedure, to get the best desired results. Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Answer: All elective procedures should be performed after you are done with breast feeding.
I think you have received good advice from several other doctors regarding your planned liposuction procedure. Their advice has focused mainly on your health.
Think for one moment about your child as well. Although most of the medications that you will be given around the time of your liposuction are relatively safe during breast feeding, why would you take the risk? Even if there is only a 1% chance of having negative effects on your child, that is still not an acceptable risk profile.
Wait until you are done breastfeeding, not only for your own benefit and probably improved results, but also to ensure your child's well-being.

Answer: Liposuction while breast feeding
This question comes up frequently. You CAN have liposuction performed while breast feeding. It is safe but advisable to pump and discard as long as you are taking any prescription medications.
The better questions is SHOULD you have liposuction while breast feeding and I advise waiting until you are finished and your body has returned to it's new baseline with regard to weight and fat distribution. This will likely give you the best long-term result.
Congratulation and good luck.
