Juvederm

What it is: A dermal filler (cosmetic injection) FDA approved for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid gel and is available in various formulations, including Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus.

Juvederm injections are absorbed by the body over time but results may last up to one year.  Juvederm products are manufactured by Allergan, the same pharmaceutical company behind Botox Cosmetic.

What it addresses:

- Thin lips
- Hollow cheeks and under-eyes
- Facial wrinkles and folds
- Some nose irregularities
- Acne scars and skin depressions

Question

Why did my Juvederm results disappear after one day?

I had a juvederm treatment yesterday afternoon (nasolabial lines). By evening, the results were remarkable. This morning, however, the deep creases were back (from sleeping?) and looks almost exact to my before photo. Is this normal or will the lines fill back in with time? It's very disappointing...

If Juvederm is injected too deeply, the results may disappear.

Juvederm and similar fillers need to be injected into the skin at the correct level/depth in order for them to provide a long lasting correction.

If the Juvederm was injected too deeply, then the Juvederm may flatten out by spreading into the soft tissue very quickly. This will cause the correction to disappear very quickly, even over night.
