What should I ask my doctor about Juvederm or Restylane?

Joel B. Singer, MD answers: Restylane or Juvederm doctor consultation - what to ask

What should I ask my doctor before getting a Restylane or Juvederm injection? I don't want to look lumpy or unnatural. It's for naso-labial folds and my eye area.

Hi,

I would recommend that you and your doctor first discuss your concerns and goals. The naso-labial folds can be filled in nicely with either Restylane or Juvederm Ultra Plus (Hyaluronic acids) and last at least 6-9 months. If your situation is loss of facial volume, you should also consider Sculptra since it does a better job of volumetric restoration can also be used for naso-labial folds, and can last 2 or more years.

The lower eyelid area is tricky and requires experience to avoid lumpiness and excessive bruising. Any of the products just described can be used in this area with care to inject from a distance and stay below the muscle.
