Botox and fillers do totally different things, but also work well together to achieve a specific result. To relax a muscle or smooth the skin from expression, Botox is indicated. It helps the skin become less contracted to reduce the expression lines. If lines remain when there is no expression, or the face is relaxed, you may need to fill in that space.
The lips almost always require a filler to accomplish the goal of "plumping". We utilize Juviderm, Restylane, Cosmoplast and Evolence. Each product has its own advantage or disadvantage. My preference is Juviderm. It is easy to use and lasts the longest in the lips. It usually is not bulky or lumpy. We only use a small amount of Botox to relax very deep lines in the skin above and below the lip. A qualified doctor should be able to give the same, clear distinction between fillers and Botox. If they cannot, find another doctor.
