I have long had a problem area in my lower belly....

I have long had a problem area in my lower belly. Whether I am at my goal weight or not, my lower belly retains too much subcutaneous fat. I can never get rid of that "pooch." I decided to try Cool Sculpting, because I'm nervous about surgery and not willing to pay the higher price of regular lipo. After consulting with several area practices I decided on Dr. Caroline Glicksman in Sea Girt, NJ. The main reason for my choosing her is that she - the doctor herself - is the one who will perform the procedure, not office staff like the other places I visited. The price is a few hundred dollars higher, but I feel more confident with an actual plastic surgeon performing the procedure.
I did quite a bit of research and am familiar with side effects and realistic expectations - in other words, I know that 25% fat reduction is the mOst I can hope for. I know to expect nerve discomfort - to what degree won't be known til afterwards. Fingers crossed it's not too bad. I'm a bit of a wuss!

I had the procedure today. It was pretty painless, except for about a minute right after the device was removed. The technician (who assisted only - the doctor prepped me and put the device on me after checking for hernias) massaged the area and the pain subsided immediately. She apologized for massaging me, but it actually felt good, which I’ve seen in some reviews hasn’t been the case. Right after, I was red, but that faded within a couple of hours. It isn’t completely gone, but there’s no irritation or anything. The area went cold in the office, but now that I’m home, my skin temp feels normal.

So far, I’ve had a slight amount of swelling, but I jUSt got my period, so it could be PMS bloat - or even a combo. The numbness is minor, as is the pain. I was told that it might hurt a little if I bumped against something, but so far that’s been ok.
One weird thing is that I didn’t have any warning that I was getting my period. It usually hurts, but maybe the procedure disrupted the usual cramps somehow?
I don’t have pictures, because I pretty much look the same since it’s only day two.
