$999 upper eyelid lift turned into a $3,400 revision

One week out from revision, oculoplastic surgeon was able to lower incision slightly on left, despite very little skin remaining (incision was at 16mm, twice the height where it should be at 8mm), pushed what little fat remained in upper space forward to fill in hallowed area in inner corner where too much fat was taken out, (had 3x more volume in right), and fixed muscle and lifted under lid. Right eye incision was raised slightly and some fat was removed to make up for excess fat removal on left, and scar tissue was cleared up on both sides. Incisions are now flawless and even Right lid is currently very slightly lower by 1mm, but may balance out as it heals, (only one week out) but doctor will perform inner lid lift on right, no charge, if still slightly lower after healing to ensure they are perfectly even. Awesome doctor, makes himself available to his patients on his cell, personally calls them to check on their progress, and cares about patient concerns and results. Breath of fresh air after my last experience.

Hi, thanks for posting your experiences and giving hope to others in similar situation. I had unsatisfactory upper bleph revision 9 days ago that immediately looked bad/ uneven after surgery. Now in recovery phase when things should start to even out, it's apparent that my eyes are messed up. I need to have my left eyelid lowered because the incision is too high (not swollen anymore) and there doesn't seem to be enough skin on top of incision to drape over it. My right eye is a different shape due to lower/ asymmetrical incision than the left. I have another set of jagged incision on top of the incision crease which isn't even forming the crease right now.
What did your surgeon tell you about being able to lower your eyelid crease? I had been reading that it's hard to do that, so I'm wondering if you could tell us what was told to you about it.

My incisions are both permanately above the natural crease now, because the original doctor who messed them up, Dr Noel Tenenbsum, placed one 8 mm higher than the other, but my occuloplastic doctor was able to even them out by slightly lowering one, and raising the other, and also performed ptosis surgery on the eye that was botched . Two months out, they look 1000 times better. Did you give your eyes two months to settle? When do you go back to see the revision doc again?

Thanks so much for your update and insights. I'm about 2 months out from botched surgery, and I have the exact problems as you had. My right eyelid has no fat to support the crinkled/ collapsing eyelid skin now with multiple creases. My surgeon said he saw some fat pop out when he opened up my eyelid so he just took out the extra fat! My left eyelid incision crease is very high like yours, above the natural crease line. I consulted with 2 oculoplastic surgeons who gave me different plans. One said I should not be operated on and should just get fillers to right upper eyelid hollow, also ptosis surgery (internal approach) for both eyes. Another said I should wait and that my case is fixable, he would lower the left eyelid and make higher the right eyelid, do fat graft either with any fat from back of eye or with own fat elsewhere, and then ptosis correction all in same surgery. I would like a permanent solution so will wait it out until revision surgery. But I'm also thinking in the meantime getting fillers to right upper eyelid so I don't look deformed enough to hide behind glasses/ sunglasses. Hopefully by the time fillers wear off I can have a revision.

For clarification, the doctor who botched my eyes is Dr. Noel Tenenbsum, and had to hire an oculoplastic surgeon to fix them, because of Dr. Noel Tenenbaum.

I have the same issue. Cost to attempt the fix is $18, 000.
Who is the doctor who has done your repair?

Yes please give The occularplastic who fixed it! And how long did you have to wait after the first surgery to have it fixed???

I never understand when these poor people are looking for help from a botched surgery and they are pleading for the names of doctors that can assist, why so many will not share the name of the doctors that helped them. If you found good doctors to correct your bad surgeries, by God please share with others that are in such despair. If so many are suffering and you can help them, please do so.

Yes give the name, I think it is so rude, if they can not name the doctor; at least send a private message.

your eyes completely back, after a botched surgery. I will never have enough skin to cover the platforms as much as I would like to look like my old self, but the eyes are have improved greatly in symmetry.
