Upper Bleph/Ptosis Repair Nightmare

This review is well overdue because I’ve waited over two years to see the full healing process. My initial consultation was for a lip lift with an upper blepharoplasty. During my consult, Dr T. told me my right eye had ptosis and a bleph would not help the drooping that was bothering me. She said “most facial plastic surgeons will send you to an occuloplastic surgeon but I’ve done many ptosis repair surgeries”. Based on her reviews, I had full confidence.
Her staff surgery coordinator Claudia goes over all the surgical intricacies in which I shared with her I had an upcoming trip to Greece six weeks after my surgery date. She said to me “you’ll be looking great and ready for Greece!” This was my fault for taking that statement as ptosis repair recovery would be the same as upper bleph, quick. Major error on my part as well as hers.
To cut to the chase, I cancelled my trip to Greece because my eye wasn’t even close to healed. I came back for my three month check up and my eyes were completely different. The eye that was repaired was over corrected, leaving the eye looking overly open, while also having lots of scar tissue and looking swollen. Dr T’s suggestion? Let’s do a ptosis repair on the other eye! Not a chance. Second suggestion? “I can put filler in the other eyelid to match the swelling. That will be an additional $1000”. I was speechless. Fast forward two years later to now hate what I see every time I look in the mirror. I avoid pictures, feel insecure, and I’m not sure what my next step is to getting this fixed. I’m constantly asked if my eye is irritated, or if something is wrong with it. It’s truly heartbreaking to be dismissed by this provider and her staff who I traveled hours to see and paid tens of thousands of dollars for a procedure that has placed my self esteem in the basement. I called her office in tears and was given a very condescending “calm down” speech and given surgical recommendations that would cost more. More than anything I’m upset with myself for being talked into a procedure I didn’t need.
