WORTH IT
I got my procedure yesterday. My insurance covered it and it was estimated that I would take out about 700cc's in each breast, but wound up taking 900cc's out of each breast. I'm 5'7", 208 lbs and 48 years old, bra size was 36J.
I did my surgery at Mt Sinai West on West 59th Street. I arrived at 10:00 a.m. and was marked up for surgery and given my IV at noon. I went into the operating room at 12:30. I don't remember going under, but I do remember the nurses asking me what tropical location I would be visiting in my mind, but somehow wound up talking about NJ and that's the last thing I remember. I woke up around 4:30 and was walking out of there by 8:30 p.m.
Mt. Sinai nursing staff was efficient and friendly. It is a busy place and the recovery room after the operation was a bit loud, buzzers going off and people in pain just waking up. SO, that wasn't so pleasant to wake up to, but I just focused on my breathing and was fine. The pain was not bad, felt like a tight bra around my rib cage (and who of us big chested ladies aren't used to that sensation) and a sunburn. The weird thing is that I felt really anxious when I woke up, not sleepy and it might have been because of all the noise I don't know. It passed as soon as I had some juice and water. All I can say is if you've had a baby, this is much easier.
I took a percocet last night before bed and it helped with the pain, but I had a hard time sleeping on my back. Today I only took Tylenol and was fine, but plan on taking a percocet tonight.
I feel okay today and maybe sat up a little too much because I'm feeling it now. Also, feel like I'm getting a sore throat. A cold would really suck.
I'll post before pictures later.

I like your analogy about giving birth because I thought birth was awful and scary! I will be following your journey- I’m about 8 weeks away from my BR surgery

It’s a cake walk compared to having a baby! I’m really glad I did it. I had chronic shoulder, neck and collarbone pain and it’s so much better. I feel like thy fit my shape and I can see the wear and tear on my shoulder.

Oh boy, took of the plastic wrap nd gauze and I’m loving how small the are, but it’s an adjustment. I was slightly stunned, it’s so new. I think they look good and I’m just taking it one day at a time. I took a shower by myself, totally fine.

I feel a bit battered and bruised at the moment but feeling better with every passing hour.
I’m longing to sleep on my side, but I’m guessing we are way off that.
I’m just happy to manage any kind of sleep.
Wishing you well. X
