Excited about my new neck and profile!

Excited about my new neck and profile!

RNpenny
WORTH IT$6,500
I am 52. I had my neck lift on November 5th. Was waiting to post pictures so as to let some of the swelling to go down. Almost a month out and today I can see a difference. It’s funny how we look so closely at things in the mirror that annoy us. For almost 10 yrs I have hated my neck. I have Hashimotos Thyroid disease and 20 years ago had a rather large goiter that stretched the front of my neck. When I look back to when I was 30 and pregnant with my son, heck I had no neck than either. Just call it bad DNA. Pictures tell a thousand words. Just yuk! I had no profile whatsoever, it all just ran together like melting putty. Fast forward to surgery. I felt nothing, I mean nothing. I recall very little about the surgery except for the IV prior and waking up feeling slight nausea that soon passed. Stayed in a very nice hotel overnight, back the next day for an exam. Went home and hubby was a super sweet caregiver. Making sure I had fresh pineapple, arnica, ice packs, wrap on, etc. Set my recliner up in our bedroom to keep my head elevated. I had a little discomfort but nothing that Tylenol after day 2 couldn’t fix.
I would say the worst part for me was expressing the fluid gently so I wouldn’t get any hematoma under the skin. My neck felt so tight that it was hard looking up and down for the first couple of weeks. My neck skin was so loose before that I even had loose skin down to my boobs, lol. I feel like a had a breast lift at the same time. Ha! But hey I’m not complaining. I told the doctor to pull it up and tight!
I did bruise some, mostly behind the neck and in the cleavage area, as bruising does travel downward. Incisions were not bad at all. Had stitches out at 1 week. I went back to work on the 10 th day careful not to lift anything. Gentle walks around the neighborhood, but not returning to Yoga until I’m approved to do so.
I’m a big-time yogi so I really miss it. I am grateful to Dr. Standefer and his office staff for the great care they gave to me. They have a beautiful location that is a very peaceful, refreshing, and relaxing atmosphere. Everyone there is so kind and helpful. I’m glad I finally did this. I did it for me, no one else. Don’t hesitate to make that choice for yourself if you find you are looking at someone else in the mirror. The new you just might surprise you!

Thank you! I do feel better with makeup. I’m just amazed when I look back at the before pics , a little scared too that I ever went out looking that way. Now I can begin some new found confidence.
December 16, 2020
I’m not seeing your pictures. Did you remove them or am I doing something wrong?
December 17, 2020
I tried to rearrange in better order . I will have to repost them . Hope you are still doing well and healing
December 21, 2020
Can't wait to see your pics. I'm doing better and very happy. Just a tad concerned when the numbness will go away on my cheeks in front of my ears. Do you still have numbness?
December 21, 2020
Yes ma’am, I still am numb to both cheeks. It takes time , feeling does come back. My doctor told me to start light massages. I got a Kenalog injection last week for the residual swelling still present under my neck. Helped a good bit . Just taking it day by day. Don’t get in a hurry , it’s a long process to see final results.
I also had Sclerotherapy on both legs 6 weeks post op neck lift. Believe me when I say my neck looks far better than my poor legs. Lol

Looking forward to seeing your results

Here are some pictures before my neck lift was performed. It shows the stretched skin from thyroid goiter from Hashimoto's ( before 10 lb weight loss) It’s been a long time getting to this point. But I’m so happy now with the outcome.

I was scheduled for a mini facelift on April 7, 2021. Met with Doctor; paid in full; did part of pre op questioning; and THEN ALL WENT DOWN HILL FAST.... so sad...i cried.... still sad about this. Somewhat hard to explain. first the woman; doing the questioning had to leave for an appointment so she handed me three pages to read and initial while someone else went to bring me a book to see pictures of under eye fat transplant.... In about 5 minutes the following happened: 1. told my neck wasn't being done when I had previously been told it was; read 2 pages of the .. what could go wrong pages.... while reading... someone handed me a book to look at before and after pictures of under eye fat transplant.... told by the manager that they were giving me $2,250's worth of extra work because they forgot to tell me that fat in my jowls needed removed............. the manager said "we will cut that fat out".........what, cut? I thought. isn't liposuction used I thought in my mind.... but I said.... I have a question..... the pages I'm reading is talking about permanent nerve damage being possible... my question is "since you've worked here; have you seen any patient experience something terrible... like permanent nerve damage, bleeding, some of the things in these pages that I'm reading..... NOT GOOD.... SHE DIDN'T SAY YES, NO OR NEVER.... instead she said.... "if you feel any bit of discomfort then you shouldn't do this". I asked again. She again said.... you shouldn't do this. So, I said "okay, I won't". I was about to cry as we walked to the front desk..... I wanted to do this. But; not if other patients have had permanent nerve damage. So; I told her; I want to do this; would you please just answer my question. No... she wouldn't. instead she said..... you have to cancel today to get your money back and the doctor isn't here to answer your question. Third Time I said..... I'm asking you.... SINCE YOU'VE WORKED HERE HAVE YOU PERSONALLY SEEN ANYONE AFTER SURGERY WITH ANY SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS....... she proceeded to not reply and instead she ran my credit thru on my credit card and handed me my check back. When I got home; I read the rest of the pages given to me to read. At the end of the pages; it says for me to sign it saying that..... all of my questions were answered and I understand fully what I've read. Well, I had one question.... plus clearing up whether my neck was being done as I had previously been told it was.... and then if I hadn't been denied any answer to any question that I posed; I would have wanted more comprehention on what I was last hit with being that they are going to "cut out the fat in my neck". I would have asked; if I hadn't been prompted to cancel the proceedure completely and immediately.....hurry hurry.... cancel cancel... no questions answered by the manger and the doctor isn't here.... it's cancel now no time to wait she said... it had to be right now... per the manager. Well, I will never know why the manager was so anxious to get me to cancel. But; her anxiousness and dodging my question was enough for me to assume or ask myself... did she just help me dodge a bad experience or did she want me to cancel so as to avoid removing the fat or doing my neck. I will never know what all of that was about. Sad Customer

meant to type "cut out fat in my jowls" not neck as I typed above. Bottom line: I'm 70 years young. I ordered 300 sugar free suckers; a huge jar of sugar free gummies; a large bottle of dill pickles... TO NOT SMOKE 2 WEEKS BEFORE SURGERY AND 2 WEEKS AFTER SURGERY. I got rid of all cigarette tobacca, ash trays, etc. in order to stop smoking so I could do this mini lift. But; the manager persisted in having me not do this surgery. I don't know if I should thank her or be sad as I am now. The avoiding answering my question 3 times does feel to me and my friends (that I told about this) like... one of 2 things: 1. either she knew bad things that caused her to avoid my question; or 2. ?????? I can't come up with anything other than that. THOSE 5 MINUTES FELT LIKE NOTHING OTHER THAN..... GET RID OF ME FAST. AND I DON'T KNOW WHY.

At 70yrs, you need to be realistic. I'm not sure about your facial structure but I had a mini at 68 and thought it was a waste of money. Last year at age76 I had a full face-lift done in Mexico. I'm very happy and you can find my pictures under Nurse Marie and the surgeon was Dr Carmona

And he did my neck and upper eyelids. $5900

I've never heard of fat being cut out of someones jows; but I have heard of liposuction of fat from the jowls. So; her using the word "cut the fat out" remains a question. Bottom line: Don't pose a question to the lady manager or you could end up being prompted to cancel surgery as I definately was.

Sounds like you had just an awful experience. I’m sorry that happened to you. It may have been a blessing in disguise. Get another consult if you want. Go with your gut feelings. I had that happen with my second consult. The doctor said he was going to “ cut my face here, and here, and here, and here..” as he pointed to the different areas.
He could have used the word incision. I didn’t walk , but ran out of his office!

Neck lift and loving my age!

Here are the requested photos prior to and after neck lift with liposuction. Previous photos were not in order so trying another go at it. Around 11 weeks post op, still have numbness to jawline. Feeling coming back to areas behind both ears. Getting some good zaps of nerve pain, tolerable. Still slightly numb to both cheeks. Taking Vital Proteins, light massage daily with vitamin E, eating frozen pineapples. Also went back to the yoga studio today, woo hoo! I feel pretty good about this decision!

You look so good. Have you had work on your face as well? Irregardless, you are very pretty.

Thank you, how sweet of you to say. I have only had the neck lift. Iam a Mary Kay consultant and regular user since early 2000

You look fabulous! How long did you wear your chin strap for?
January 7, 2021
Never wore a chin strap but a compression garment covering entire neck and head. 1st 5 days x 24 hrs, then 1 month every night. I still wear it some nights just because it feels good. Iam around 8 weeks post op
