WORTH IT

So far I've had an initial consultation with a surgeon on April 1 and have spoken to her about what I'd like and some of my concerns. I've always been busty(I started developing when I was around 9/10) and am currently a full 38-40H. I've been thinking about having a BR for about 6 years now and finally worked up the nerve, and gotten tired enough of the neck/back/shoulder pain, to actually do something about it.
I'd like to end up somewhere around a D-DD if possible, but at this point I'm pretty much willing to go with whatever insurance requires so long as it still looks proportionate. I was told that my request for pre-authorization would be sent the next day so now I guess I just have to wait and see what United Healthcare decides. Hopefully I'll hear back sooner rather than later since waiting, and not knowing, is making me anxious.

Thanks, glittergal54. I called my insurance on Monday and they've received the request for authorization, just waiting on them to get everything reviewed and approved.

I figured since I can't sleep I'd write a little on here just to clear my mind. I'm still waiting to hear back from UHC as to whether I'm approved or not. I'm trying to be patient, but when I hear back from them is really going to make a difference as to when I can have my BR done. I'm a nurse and the place I work at does their schedules 6 weeks at a time, so I have to have my next schedule in soon. If I hear back by the end of the month, and am approved, then I could probably get this scheduled at the end of May or beginning of June. That would be perfect timing, since I'd be done with my online class, my mom would be back from her vacation, and my dad would be here visiting for a couple of weeks. If not, then I'll have to wait until July or later which is ok too I suppose. I just don't like all this sitting around and waiting for things to get done once I've made my mind out about something. I haven't talked to my boss about all this just yet, but I couldn't imagine her having a problem with it. I'd really been debating for a while how much time to take off work since I'd prefer not to use up all of my PTO or be off work for too long, but after really thinking about it and talking it over with a few friends/coworkers I think I've settled on taking a full six weeks off. That would give me plenty of time to heal and relax, esp since I won't be taking a vacation this year so that I'd be able to pay for my portion of the surgery. Anyway, I'm really glad to have found this site. There's been a lot of helpful info posted on here and its very reassuring to be able to talk to others who are going through and have already been through this process. Plus it helps to have the encouraging comments from everyone that I'm not crazy or being silly for even thinking about having a BR.

Just talked to UHC and was told I'm approved! I had such a rough night at work last night but this has totally made my day. I guess I can call the PS office and ask for a definite surgery date now? And I suppose I'll be talking to the boss lady tomorrow when I go in to work for a meeting about taking a LOA. Ha, I don't know if I'll be able to go to sleep now, I'm so excited!
