Arm Lift After Weight Loss, TT and Lipo - Columbia, MO

ORIGINAL POST

I lost a lot of weight then had Lipo to my arms. Well the lipo just made them hang more but it made the skin thin we for a smaller scar.
1 year later I had an Arm lift to both arms. It took about 3 hours because I had more Lipo done. They are swollen now ( 7 days) but no hanging skin.
I get the stitches out on Monday 1/5/15. I can't wait to see the incision. It has been covered with tape so I can't see it.

How did getting your stitches out go? How do the incisions look?
User Avatar

A couple spots hadn't healed so the stitches were removed and tape put back on over the incision. I will show pics tomorrow after shower . Still can't see incision but might be able to see through the tape when it is wet. Tape is suppose to be on two weeks.

it will be ok...don't you worry. Seems you had stitches out early. my ps waited 2 weeks and only took out half then waited another week and took out other half. Im now stitch free and tape free...yahoo! Also at 4 weeks was told i didn't need to wear garment. I still wear it in evenings and to bed....just my personal choice...feels more secure.

I don't know yet. They took stitches out nod then coveted the incision with tape. Told me to leave the tape on two weeks because some stitches pulled apart.

I think it looks good for 15 days post op. The incision will heal. The part I love is no more hanging skin under my arms. I didn't take pics of before surgery. Sorry.

I started using Mepitac Silicone Tape today. I purchased it from Amazon for $20. It's easy to put on and stays on well. It has good reviews from people who have used it for scar healing. I just wanted to pass that along in case you want to check it out.

Arm lift update 3weeks

User Avatar

It is 3 weeks today. I had the stitches out a week ago but had to pull 5 more this week as the came to the top of the skin. I think there is one on my right arm but it might just be a small scab.

They look to be healing great! I have 3 stitches that I'll be getting snipped this week. They are annoying... Make the skin itchy and irritated i find. Have you started any cream on them yet? Look great no puckering, no swelling, fabulous!

I have been using tripe antibiotic cream and massaging a little when I put it on. I am afraid to use any scar cream till all stitches and scabs are gone. Don't want to get scar cream under the skin. Plus I don't know what to use. I used Mederma on TT scar and it worked real well.

I was using same. Once the stitches and scabs are gone mederma should be fine. I Alternate. Mederma, coconut oil, silicone gel and silicone sheets...scaraway its called. Ill post updated pics at 6 weeks today or tomorrow so you get an idea if its working or not?! Hope so!!

Coconut oil? I hadn't heard of that one?
User Avatar
January 14, 2015
Yeah my friend used virgin coconut oil...on tummy area but worked well. I get so dry sometimes so i alternate. Has your doc suggested anything good?! How are they feeling? I find everyday is idfferent. Some days like today they are painful. Some days i dont feel like anythings been done. I want more of those days!

My PS said to use Mederma. I try to ignore my arms. I have a lot to get done so I concentrate on that. Then once or twice a day I wash the incision and put triple ointment on. During that time if I feel a stitch coming out. I pull them out. I really am worried about a red spot under arm on left side. It is red and feels like a stitch that is inside my arm. I had three of those when I had my TT and had to have to do a revision on my TT to remove the imbedded stitches.

Really? That sucks. Hope its not that. I hlcan feel 3-4 on the surface... I triedcto pull them with tweezers but too short. Im going to ask them to cut them tomorrow. Good for you...sounds like they arent bothering you too much pain wise. Yeah!

I worried a lot when I had TT a year ago. Also lots of problems. But it all turned out great in the end. So even though the incisions still hurt, possible imbedded stitches and for some reason the muscle in my right arm is sore....I figure it will all turn out well like the TT did.

Yes hun i agree with you! A positive attitude ia half the battle. When i go about my business i dont notice it. When im feeling sorry for myself tye pain gets worse and i feel worse. I had my tt in '07 and stilo very happy!

Those are coming along nicely!! I'll be watching your progress because I'm getting my arms done after my Mommy Makeover heals... thinking of waiting until this fall so I can wear long sleeves during the majority of the bad scarring.
User Avatar

Yes my TT took a year for me to feel normal. 3 months for the entire incision to close . But the arm lift was 3 weeks I feel normal and when stitches came out in 2 weeks the incision was closed and healed. So the arm lift was a piece of cake compared to. TT Mommy Makeover. I would wait till fall.
