Less than 2 months post op - in absolute love with my results
Absolutely Life Changing
I’ve always had large and droopy breasts for most of teenage and adult life. I spoke with my family doctor about getting a breast reduction as it was causing me bad back pain. A friend of mine recommended I go with Dr. Romy, as he has had a surgery with him and he works with OHIP so a portion of the surgery would be covered if I qualify. After my family doctor sent the referral, Dr. Romy’s office called me and set up a consultation. He was very friendly and very thorough when explaining everything. He said I qualified for the breast reduction and sent my application to OHIP. Once OHIP approved my application, we set a surgery date. Dr. Romy and his staff prepared me for the surgery, they supplied me with the prescription for my pre op meds, post op meds and pain killers.
On the day of the surgery I went to the hospital he performs his surgeries out of (Humber River). We had a quick visit before I went in. He took picture and asked me what size I wanted to go to. He listened and delivered exactly what I asked for. The surgery went by smoothly. When I woke up is where there was some concerns. The hospital staff that was on shift when I got out of surgery were extremely cold, rude and in my opinion unprofessional. So much attitude for absolutely no reason and I was rushed out of the hospital in under an hour after I woke up.
A few minutes after I had woken up (still dazed) and I was in the recovery room, a nurse had spilled something on my bed and demanded I turn to my side so she could clean up the mess she made. I felt that was absolutely absurd as I just had my breasts cut open and sewed back up and was no longer connected to any pain meds, asking me to go into my side and put pressure onto my fresh wounds would be torture. I don’t do well with pain so I was crying and had a very hard time even sitting up. The nurses were laughing and asking me why I was crying, obviously it was because I was in pain. One of the nurses informed me that I was cleared and able to leave and I politely let her know I wasn’t ready yet and would need some more time. She snapped back at me “my shift is over in less than 15 minutes so you need to leave now”. My mother who was with me at the time couldn’t believe how I was being talked to and why I was being rushed out after I had just undergone such a long and invasive surgery. I felt extremely uncomfortable but I didn’t have the energy to say anything back or complain to anyone higher up. It really upset me the way the hospital staff treated me.
I know this had nothing to do with Dr. Romy or his staff, which is why I am still rating him 5 stars, it is the hospital and their staff who is at fault, not him. After I went home, I was given instructions to take my post op meds, pain killers and how to drain my tubes. All my follow up appointments at the hospital (except for the attitude given by the hospital staff at the front desk, unsurprisingly) and then Dr. Romys office (his staff is amazing) went smoothly. There was no complications and I am healing fast.
It’s only been less than 2 months post op and I am in absolute love with my results. The shape, the scars, the size. Everything is amazing! It’s exceeded my expectations and they will only get better from here. Once my scars are fully healed and lightened they will be perfect! I cannot thank Dr. Romy enough for giving me this life changing surgery.
