Excited to Be Getting my Breast Augmentation Via Fat Transfer!

WORTH IT$5,400
I’m super excited to be getting my breast fat transfer augmentation and liposuction procedure done by Dr. Munique Maia. So far, the mini-consultation has been great. The staff is SUPERB! Very easy to reach them via text and/or phone and ask any questions I have. My mini consultation put me at ease. I was planning to meet with other plastic surgeons in the area, but Maia Plastic Surgery was the first office I went to. The impression that the office visit left me assured me that this was the right place to do my procedure. So far, with all the interactions, working with me on CareCredit and payment plan options, answering my questions, even offering tea in the waiting lobby while I waited for my appointment… I have to give this place a 5 star review. I’m excited to be meeting Dr. Maia for my pre-surgery consultation. I will keep you updated!

I’m super excited about my operation on this coming Friday. When I was preparing for this procedure, I didn’t really see anyone talk about the cost of getting stuff for the surgery. I had to get my own surgical bra and compression garments. I also had to get my own off-the-counter medications and scarring cream. They all added up to be around $500. So I really hope the procedure is worth it and I end up with the results I’m looking for.
So during the consultation, what I told Dr. Maia is that I am looking for like about a 1-cup increase. I love my breast’s shape and perkiness, but I would love more volume in the upper part of my breast to create more cleavage, as well as to lipo from my stomach. She told me that it seems like she would have more success getting from my thighs since she is looking for living stem cells so that they are able to find blood vessels properly, and that she would only take from the top of the thighs and inner thighs, as well as the stomach. She also talked about only injecting around 100-150 CCs of fat into each of my breasts, comparing it to planting seeds in a garden. You don’t want to put too much seeds all at once and then some don’t grow and are taking up space for the others to grow and stretch out their roots, etc. And you also don’t want to put them all in one place because you won’t be able to maximize growth success and retention that way. Overall, it was my first time meeting her during my pre-op appointment, and one thing I can really say and vouch for her about is that she really knows her stuff. She educates her patients and is very honest and realistic about what to expect, so it fills me with a lot of optimism that she will do very well for the procedure. She is also Harvard trained and is considered one of the top plastic surgeons in Northern Virginia. She also told me that she would prefer to operate on me in the hospital under general anesthesia due to the liposuction part of the procedure, worried about the discomfort that I might feel during the procedure. However, I really want the awake liposuction — I’m a neuroscience and pre-med student, and this stuff really fascinates me, so I told her that I really want to see it happening live, to which she acquiesced. I’m super excited for this procedure, for getting more cleavage and volume and going from a full 32C/small 32D to maybe a 32DD. I’m more concerned about symmetry of my body anyway. My hips measure 39-40 inches, my waist measures 26-27 inches, but my bust is more like 35-36 inches, and it is especially noticeable in my side profile due to the curvature of my butt (I’m African). I want my shape to be more even. I think I also assumed that since I’m 5’3 and 145lbs that I would have a lot of fat since I’m considered overweight by BMI standards. However, I do workout in the gym fairly regularly (even though I haven’t been in a month) and naturally have a larger bone structure and more muscles than people who are my same height and weight, which makes me slimmer and also contributes to possibly having less fat than I thought for the procedure.
The only thing that worries me about the procedure is the 100-150 CCs. I think I’m gonna ask Dr. Maia to increase it to 200CCs if she can because I paid $5400 for the procedure, and I just don’t know if 100-150CCS (3.38-5.07oz) will be noticeable enough to make a difference since only around 50-70% of that fat will stay anyway, and I want my money’s worth. However, I also understand her because I don’t want microcalcifications or fat necrosis, etc, and she has been doing this for a while, so I’m sure she knows the exact quantity that will allow me to avoid all those problems but still have fantastic results. However, it doesn’t hurt to just ask her if she can increase to 200CCs in each breast and see what she may say or recommend. But… yeah, I’m hella excited for this procedure and to be looking likea new and slightly improved noticeable-but-not-noticeable me! I hope my updates and reviews help other people a lot!

Day of treatment
Surgery Day!

Today was the day! I did my procedure. I’m really glad that I did. It was quick and easy. However, it was a little painful. Dr. Maia gave me a lot of numbing cream and the numbing injections, as well as local anesthesia. The prep time took longer than the actual procedure. I didn’t ask Dr. Maia for the 200CC’s; I stuck with her expertise and trusted her judgement, and I’m glad I did. We ended up doing 150CC’s in each breast. I honestly don’t think that I could have taken 50 more CC’s being taken out due to pain, haha. So far, the results look FANTASTIC. I really like it so far. Just waiting for the swelling to go down so I can see what I’m working with. Dr. Maia and the staff were wonderful and were ready to help me at every stage of the procedure. I’m glad I decided to go with them for my procedure, and I would highly recommend it for the rest of you. Before I left home, I took a turmeric shot and ate a light breakfast. I took my Bromelain with Quercetin tablet and my Arnica Montana tablet. When I got home after surgery, I took more Bromelain (with Quercetin) and Arnica Montana— I started taking them two days before the procedure to help with inflammation, bruising, swelling, and pain. And so far, I think they really helped; I literally have NO bruising anywhere on my breasts. I also took Tylenol extra strength and Cefadroxil. Also, Dr. Maia did really well making very subtle incisions, so you can’t really see that anything has been done. I had minimal drops of blood from the suture area by my nipples immediately after the surgery. So far, there’s only slight discomfort and pain.

I forgot to add that Dr. Maia also told me not to weat my surgical bra due to the swelling — she wants it to go down first — and to minimize compression to the breast to help the fat take.
