I met with Dr. Mitts and his staff the beginning of June for a Breast Reduction Consultation. I have always had large breasts. It seems like they grew over night. I graduated high school at a DDD. By the time I finished college I was at an H. After the birth of my daughter I have stayed around a J. My breasts have changed a little bit with weight gain but not drastically. Even when I was thin and it great shape my breasts were large. I am a very athletic person and I find myself passing up activities I enjoy because my breasts are in the way or I don't have a supportive sports bra. I have a job that requires me to be on my feet all day and my back and neck are sore and achef when I get home. To make it worse my posture is suffering and I am beginning to develop a hump on my neck. I have always considered getting g a reduction but always found a reason not to. My insurance is great I have the time off so I don't have anymore excuses it's time to feel good again! So back to my consultation. I really liked Dr. Mitts. He took time to go over and everything and explain the procedure. He told me he doesn't do FNG that it's rarely needed and an outdated procedure which I was thrilled to hear. He asked about what size I would like to be and I said a full C or small D. He told me that's achievable and a good size for my frame. He also told me he does this procedure 1-2 times a week and it's one of his favorites because he gets a chance to really sculpt the patient. I was really comfortable with him and have a lot of faith he will do a good job. He took measurementS and the nurse took a history and photos to submit to insuramce. Less then 2 weeks later I was approved! My insurance covers it 100% except my deductible so it will be $40! I called the office and my surgery is scheduled for July 14th. Hopefully everything checks out for my pre op on the 30th. Oh he also said he would keep me in the hospital for about 23 hours to make sure I'm doing OK before I'm sent home and I will have drains for about a week. I'll update after my pre op. I'm nervous but more excited!

UPDATED FROM mommywifeteacher
13 days pre
Pre Op Today

I had my pre op today. I basically filled out paperwork and releases. I met with the Dr. And he checked my lungs, chest and ears. He asked if I had any questions. I just asked about what I need to buy before surgery and how my incisions would be closed. He told me that I don't really need to worry about anything before hand except to wash with an antibacterial soap for a couple days before and no ibuprofen for 10 days prior. He told me I would be in a surgical bra for about 2 weeks and then I can use a sports bra. He will be closing me up using to layers of internal stiches and the outer layer will be glue and tape. He said this makes me waterproof so I can shower within a day or two and it makes the scarring thiner. We discussed size and I said a full C or small D and he said I'd probably end up a small D. Other then that they gave me instruction to call the hospital this week to register and they will send me for my pre op blood work. I also got a prescription for Norco, keflex, and an anti nausea medicine. 14 more days. I so excited about the reduction but anesthesia always makes me nervous.

My surgeon has done the same for my stitches. I do not get the tape removed until I reach 1 month post op. He likes to keep the tape on to keep scarring at a minimum. I would recommend making sure you have plenty of pillows to prop you up when you sleep. I tried sleeping in a recliner but after the 2nd night I wanted to be in bed.
