Eyes Actually Look Puffier After Lower Eyelid Surgery

Age 31, lower blepharoplasty, supery performed late April 2009, 3.5 months post op. Result is terrible. I used to have mild barely noticeabe bags under my eyes as per my first pic in the white shirt and now they are unmistakenably festoons which has advanced me many more years. Apart from that, the left eyelid is more swollen than the right.
My surgeon has informed me some swelling will persist for several months and I'm prepared not to make a judgement for 2 more months but I have seen zero improvement since the surgery and the eye bags are definantly much bigger than before (shouldn't I have seen some improvement by now?).
I've been digging around and found most blepharoplasties performed on malar bags/festoons are almost always worse, something I was not warned about - I will post again at the six month mark with updated pics, does anyone know if this can be fixed (preferably by someone with eextensive experience and results)

1. Investigate the doctor with the board/doctors associations to make sure there are no complaints against the doctor
2. Check reviews on realself
3. Ask the doctor if it is possible to speck to any former patients about their blepharoplasty results
4. Look for doctor that specializes in oculoplasty such as an oculoplastic surgeon or find an ophthalmologist - the doctor i used was a general plastic surgeon
5. Get more than one opinion and do NOT go off the before and after photos that the doctor provides you with (what I have noticed about the doctor I have used is that their before and after photos on their website have not been updated in 7 years - I feel this is a warning sign)
6. If getting blepharoplasty, ask the doctor if it will be the tranconjunctival approach - the reason why is that my doctor used the transcutaneous approach which has an ectropion risk (a risk of eyelid pulldown), this did in fact happen on my left eyelid (very slightly but noticeable if i zoom in).
7. Investigate if fillers instead of blepharoplasty are for you which are temporary
8. Take your own before and after shots - my doctor tried to use lighting to minimize the effect of the bags in after shots
9. And above all - if I haven't said it before, make sure your doctor is a specialist/has specialist qualifications in the eye surgery which is hugely complex rather than a general plastic surgeon such as an ophthalmologist
